Job Description:
We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Vice President of Planning to join our executive team. The VP, Planning will lead the strategic and operational aspects of assortment planning, demand forecasting, and inventory management across all channels (DTC, wholesale, and retail). This leader will drive profitability by aligning product availability with consumer demand, optimizing seasonal buys, price/promotion, inventory levels, and collaborating closely with merchandising, eCommerce, Finance, and Supply Chain teams.
Key Responsibilities:
Assortment Planning:
Partner with Merchandising to develop and lead seasonal and long-term assortment strategies, ensuring product alignment with historical and forecasted customer demand. Build category-level plans that maximize sell-through and align with financial targets.
Price Optimization:
Build and execute pricing strategies that balance competitive positioning with profitability goals across channels. Lead markdown optimization efforts to ensure effective inventory turnover while protecting margin.
Demand Forecasting & Inventory Management : Develop and oversee demand forecasts, inventory targets, and replenishment strategies to ensure optimal stock levels across all product categories, channels, and large wholesale accounts.
Wholesale Account Planning : Work closely with the sales team and wholesale partners to forecast demand, plan inventory, and ensure timely fulfillment for large wholesale accounts, optimizing availability and sell-through rates for key retailers.
Strategic Planning : Lead the development and execution of long-term and short-term planning strategies that support the company’s growth objectives, including expanding product lines, geographic markets, and wholesale partnerships.
Collaboration with Merchandising & Operations : Partner closely with merchandising to align product assortment and availability with customer demand and sales trends across both e-commerce and wholesale channels. Work with operations and supply chain teams to streamline distribution and delivery processes for all accounts.
Financial Management : Manage the planning budget, ensuring alignment with the company’s financial goals. Monitor KPIs related to inventory turnover, sell-through rates, and margins, focusing on optimizing profitability across DTC and wholesale businesses.
Systems & Process Optimization : Identify and implement technology solutions and process improvements that enhance forecasting accuracy and operational efficiency across both e-commerce and wholesale channels.
Data-Driven Insights : Use analytics and data insights to drive decision-making and identify opportunities for growth and efficiency within inventory management, especially for large wholesale partners. Leverage data to identify selling trends that inform product, channel, and/or marketing strategies.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field (MBA preferred).
10+ years of experience in planning, inventory management, or supply chain roles, preferably in retail, apparel, or eCommerce environments, with experience in managing wholesale account planning.
Proven leadership experience with a track record of developing and executing successful planning strategies across DTC and wholesale channels.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a deep understanding of demand forecasting, inventory management, and financial planning.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across departments, with executive leadership, and with wholesale partners.
Proficiency in planning and forecasting tools, ERP systems, and data analytics platforms.
