The Sr. Director, Merchandising will lead and execute integrated merchandising and planning strategies to drive the product line and inventory purchases across Misha & Puff channels to hit our financial goals and best serve our loyal and engaged consumers. This role must keep pace with the demands of digital retail, understanding how the supply chain operates across our multi-faceted business.
The Sr. Director, Merchandising must be a strategic thinker and big idea generator who champions agile execution with a focus on innovative opportunities to continue to drive the company’s profitable growth. Our business spans e-commerce, wholesale, retail, distributors and a resale marketplace.
This leader must bring a thorough understanding of financials, gross margin, and sales analysis and the ability to leverage data to build differentiated product assortments that engage the consumer and deliver healthy ROI. This role must know when and where to stock merchandise in order to maximize sales and minimize markdowns. Ideally, this person will balance both analytics and intuition to generate results, including great new product collections, increased sales and better profit margins.
The Sr. Director, Merchandising will provide strategic vision and lead the team to test, iterate, shift and elevate the product and channels for the Misha & Puff customer.
This leader must have a merchant/marketer approach to the business, be a committed team player and have an incredible affinity for the Misha & Puff brand and customer. This role will work collaboratively with Marketing and Design to ensure product offerings are aligned with the brand and price point goals. This leader will act as the bridge between product, brand, site merchandising, distributors and retail to ensure alignment on the product roadmap and a singular product / visual identity across all channels.
In addition to the functional role, the Sr. Director, Merchandising will play a full and active role as a member of the senior team.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES The Sr. Director of Merchandising will lead efforts to ensure maximum sales and profits with the correct selection, margin, and inventory across channels. Day-to-day responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
Develop and lead a best-in-class Merchandising, Planning and Allocation functions.
Establish strategic and innovative Merchandising initiatives that drive company business and financial goals.
Develop, communicate, and execute financial strategies and plans that support Misha & Puff’s merchandising, marketing and financial objectives.
Drive financial results that maximize sales, inventory, and profitability.
Develop seasonal assortment plans by style / color / category.
Establish seasonal merchandise flow strategies that maximize sales, profitability and customer experience.
Develop sales projections, sizing schemas, and inventory flow for all key items and new launches.
Reconcile tops down category financial plans to bottoms up plans and proactively communicate concerns and opportunities.
Support the financial success of the brand by meeting sales, comp, margin, and inventory turn goals.
Analyze current trends and historical data to identify risks and opportunities to business and recommend strategies to achieve financial goals.
Manage the product assortment and product life cycle throughout the season/year.
Manage inventory requirements for Misha & Puff retail, DTC, WS and global distribution.
Look beyond the everyday business to find opportunities to maximize sales.
Provide other analysis related to driving business goals.
Create a collaborative, innovative, and results oriented environment with cross functional partners.
KEY EXPERIENCES The ideal candidate will have a strong merchant foundation and evidence of having converted this into real business results and the following experience:
Experienced (10 + years) innovative Merchandising leader in a DTC high-growth brand is a must; foundation experience should be in consumer facing products, ideally across channels, including retail, wholesale and DTC.
Luxury fashion experience strongly preferred.
Innovative, team-oriented business owner with proven success in driving execution on strategic goals in a fast-paced environment with rapidly changing priorities.
Ability to flex between micro and macro level thinking and work with all levels of management; ability to deep dive into small and big issues across the whole scope of the business.
Proven team building, leadership, analytical and fiscal skills combined with a demonstrated ability to use customer data in strategic ways.
Ability to unite key colleagues and cross-functional partners by gaining trust through demonstrating business expertise.
