Library Program Vision Statement
In the libraries, hallways, and classrooms of our school, The International School of San Francisco library program will foster a love of reading, teach information literacy and research skills, extend and support the classroom curriculum and school programs, and serve as a resource for our community of students, teachers, and families.
PositionThe Grade 3-8 Library Supervisor will support the daily operations of the Grade 3-8 library. This role is focused on cultivating a positive learning environment for all patrons in keeping with our school values. This role is 25 hours per week, with a consistent Monday through Friday schedule.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise students using the library during their free time (lunch, breaks, etc.)
Maintain a productive atmosphere for all patrons
Support the librarians in providing library instruction
Assist students with locating materials in the library
Assist the librarians with tasks related to loaning and recollecting library materials
Support initiatives to ensure that the library is a welcoming and inclusive place for all
Help students and adults check out materials
Additional duties, possibly including supervision of older students, as assigned by the Librarian or Principal
Qualifications
Ability to work in a dynamic, diverse environment
Strong communication skills with students and adults
An interest in learning about and supporting library services
Must be punctual, collaborative, self-motivated, and excited to interact with students
Availability to work in the early to mid-afternoon (approximately 12pm-5pm)
Prior experience with school-age children strongly preferred
Proficiency in French desirable
Salary for this position is $25-27 per hour depending on experience.
Must be eligible to work in the US.
