Inspired by nature, our mission is to transform patient lives by unlocking the power of biological therapeutics with a new mimic-discovery platform.Position SummaryMetaphore Bio is actively seeking a talented and highly motivated Director of Metabolic and Inflammatory Diseases to join the Translational Sciences team at our lab in Cambridge, MA. The successful candidate will be instrumental in defining and developing therapeutics leveraging Metaphore’s platform as well as leading programs from early discovery through late preclinical development. The role requires significant experience in the metabolic/obesity and inflammatory disease areas and a strong preference for experience in GPCR biology. A strong preference for those with experience in the discovery and development of biologics. Demonstrated success as a project leader and strong people leadership skills are also required.ResponsibilitiesLead and build a metabolic and inflammatory focused research group at Metaphore Biotechnologies, setting the strategy and vision for the function in the context of the platform.Support the advancement of therapeutic candidates from discovery to late preclinical development.Play an active role in shaping the metabolic/obesity and inflammatory disease portfolio at Metaphore, understanding platform capabilities and clinical unmet needs to identify and pursue the development of novel therapeutics.Project leadership of development programs, cross-functionally leading a team of computational scientists, protein engineers, and translational scientists to effectively and efficiently develop therapeutic candidates.Set and manage the budget for the group, including managing in-house and external resources to achieve program-specific goals in a timely and budget-conscious manner.Build and lead a team of scientists, supporting their scientific and personal development.QualificationsPhD or MS in metabolic, biochemistry, immunology, or related field.Minimum 8+ years of experience in industry, leading and representing the metabolic disease function on project teams.A proven track record of displaying excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral, and the ability to communicate complex information succinctly.Extensive industry experience in the discovery and development of large molecule/biologics therapeutics in the context of metabolic disorders.Project leadership experience, preferably in the context of biologics and/or the development of therapeutics that leverage ML/AI.Experience managing PhD and non-PhD scientists.Expertise in the biology of GPCRs, preferably in the context of biologics, but relevant experience in the development of small molecule therapeutics targeting GPCRs is sufficient.At Flagship, we recognize there is no perfect candidate.
