About the DepartmentThe Applied Data Fellowship (ADF) at the University of Chicago's Harris School of Public Policy bridges the gap between data analysis and policy implementation. ADF embeds professionals with strong data skills into U.S. local governments and nonprofits for one year to help translate data insights into actionable policy recommendations and programs.
Job SummaryThe Manager, Strategic Partnerships will drive ADF's growth by securing new clients, retaining existing partnerships, and mentoring 30-40 fellows annually. The role involves strategic planning, stakeholder management, and overseeing the successful implementation of business development strategies. This is a grant-funded position and subject to renewal.
Responsibilities
Provide expertise on current engagements and identify new areas for business development.
Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders internal to UChicago and external clients and other stakeholders.
Regularly coordinate with stakeholders through update meetings and ensure the program team is consistently informed.
Develop and implement strategies for project delivery, including designing deliverables, work plans, and tracking outcomes with timely implementation of initiatives.
Mentor and support fellows, ensuring professional development through regular check-ins and feedback sessions.
Source opportunities at conferences and workshops, to showcase the impact of ADF.
Lead strategic planning using data to inform business development outreach and partnership strategies.
Conceptualize and execute outreach strategies, including events and roundtables, to promote key project themes.
Contribute to the organization’s thought leadership by identifying global best practices and writing blog posts or opinion pieces.
Administer the delivery of services to program participants and/or beneficiaries.
Set and communicate program priorities and performance standards and assess operations using these criteria. Plan and conduct quality assurance reviews and recommend changes as appropriate.
Perform other related work as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in a related field.
Work Experience:
Minimum requirements include knowledge and skills developed through 2-5 years of work experience in a related job discipline.
Preferred Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in relevant field (e.g. public policy, public/international administration, economics, statistics, or social sciences) or a Public Policy Master’s degree.
Experience:
2 or more years of relevant experience in business development, consulting, or social impact.
Technical Skills or Knowledge:
Intermediate knowledge of R, SQL, or Python.
Beginner skills in Excel, PowerPoint, familiarity with Google Suite.
Intermediate level data visualization tools like Tableau/PowerBI.
Excellent communication skills - written, oral, public speaking.
Prior experience and network in public policy, social impact, philanthropy and/or non-profit sector in the United States.
Strategic thinking with a business mindset and the ability to manage complex, multi-stakeholder engagements.
Ability to multitask, manage projects, and lead a diverse cohort of fellows.
Strong interpersonal skills for relationship management, stakeholder coordination, and negotiation.
Working Conditions
This is a remote position with preference for a local Chicago candidate.
