Amalgamated Bank seeks a Chief Compliance Officer (CCO) who will be reporting to the Chief Legal Officer. The Chief Compliance Officer (CCO) is responsible for ensuring Bank compliance with all applicable regulations as well as internal compliance policies and procedures. The CCO will lead all aspects of the Bank’s Consumer, Commercial, and Trust Compliance programs.

Essential Job Functions:

Develop, implement, and manage the Bank’s Consumer, Commercial, and Trust Compliance programs.

Enforce and monitor the Bank’s compliance with all consumer protection rules and regulations.

Manage the development, implementation, and maintenance of Consumer, Commercial, and Trust compliance policies and procedures.

Lead assigned teams to support execution of the Bank’s Compliance program.

Report to Management and Board of Directors at least quarterly on the status of the Bank’s Compliance program. Chair a Compliance Committee composed of a cross-section of management personnel from different functional and operational areas.

Manage and coordinate Compliance training for all appropriate staff and Board of Directors.

Facilitate the coordination and remediation of Consumer, Commercial, and Trust compliance audits and regulatory examinations.

Stay abreast of all laws and regulations relating to the Bank’s compliance activities.

Ensure new product development, system initiatives and other projects adequately consider and address compliance related issues.

Participate in various bank committees to ensure compliance obligations are communicated to senior management.

Work closely with Legal department and other compliance-related resources to interpret new and existing laws and regulations and communicate those interpretations to applicable personnel.

Perform other duties as directed.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.

Minimum 10+ years of experience in a comparable position with a bank or banking regulator.

Minimum 5+ years of experience leading and developing bank compliance team.

Comprehensive knowledge of bank consumer, commercial, trust, and compliance.

Established background in consumer protection laws and regulations.

Direct experience working with bank regulators to facilitate bank examinations and respond to inquiries.

Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal and supervisory skills and experience communicating with boards and executive management.

Strong analytical skills to resolve issues and discrepancies.

Our job titles may span more than one career level. The starting base salary for this role is between $220,000.00 – $240,000.00. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: training, transferrable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
