Position Title:Software Chief Architect
Reports To:Chief Engineer, Systems & Algorithm Architecture
Location:Novi, Michigan

POSITION SUMMARY:We are seeking a highly skilled and visionary Chief Software Architect to lead our software team within our advanced engineering team. The Chief Software Architect will play a crucial role in shaping the architecture of our automotive electronic systems, ensuring they meet current and future demands for performance, reliability, and scalability. This position requires a critical thinker with deep technical expertise, strong leadership capabilities, and a passion for pioneering new technologies in the automotive sector. This role will be responsible for architecture definition, interface definition, SoC selection, configuration, defined resource allocation, and dynamic behavior of the product.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead the design and architecture of advanced automotive electronic systems software, ensuring they meet high standards of performance, safety, and reliability.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including hardware, mechanical, systems engineering, product management, and quality assurance.
Oversee the system integration process, ensuring seamless interaction between various components and subsystems.
Ensure compliance with relevant automotive standards and regulations (e.g., ISO 26262, ASPICE).
Lead the evaluation and adoption of emerging technologies and industry trends to maintain a competitive edge.
Manage and provide technical leadership and mentorship to the engineering team, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.
Manage technical risks and issues, implementing robust solutions to mitigate potential challenges.
Coordinate with external partners, suppliers, and customers to align system architectures with business and technical requirements.
Prepare and present technical documentation, reports, and presentations to stakeholders, including senior leadership and customers.
Product technical and feature roadmap analysis and definition.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
10+ years of experience in software/systems architecture, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within the automotive industry.
Deep understanding of automotive electronic systems, including embedded systems, real-time operating systems (RTOS/QNX), and communication protocols (e.g., CAN, LIN, Ethernet).
Experience with advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) or autonomous driving technologies.
Proficiency in system design and modeling tools (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink, SysML, UML).
Proven experience in leading the architecture and integration of complex electronic systems.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Strong project management skills.
Understanding of signal conditioning and experience with schematic capture and layout.
Familiarity with automotive industry development processes and tools (e.g., AUTOSAR, V-Model).
Strong knowledge of safety-critical system design and functional safety standards (e.g., ISO 26262) and ASPICE standards.
Knowledge of cybersecurity principles and practices in automotive applications.
LOCATION AND TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
Up to 30% travel required for this position.
