The Role
The Land Development Superintendent oversees day-to-day site operations for land development, ensuring timely, cost-effective, and high-quality delivery. Responsibilities include coordinating with various departments to build production schedules, working with inspectors and utility companies for approvals, and managing field operations across multiple construction sites, including landscaping and hardscaping. They will enforce company policies, safety regulations, and quality control, traveling between job sites and maintaining consistent communication with subcontractors, architects, and construction managers. The role also involves project planning, hands-on work when needed, and maintaining logs for all job sites. Strong problem-solving skills, work ethic, and relationship management are key to success.
Responsibilities
The Land Development Superintendent oversees the day-to-day of directing, controlling and coordinating the land development site work operations activities to ensure timely, cost effective and quality delivery of our products.Collaborate with various departments to build weekly/monthly production and delivery schedules of multiple sites across a variety of municipalities.Work with City and County Inspectors to ensure site development is being constructed consistent with approved plans.Coordinate with utility districts and companies to construct according to guidelines and plans and obtain approvals and connections in advance of home complete.Manage execution of day-to-day field operations in our various construction sites with heavy focus on land development. This will also include Landscape, Hardscape work and other various subs that are working on the Veev homes when required.Coordinate with Real Estate Sales so they can tour and showcase the home in advance of completion, if necessary.Enforce compliance of all company policies and procedures, safety rules and governmental regulations.Travel between various job sites, the factory, and various vendors, as required.Consistent communication and relationship management with subcontractors, architects, designers, construction managers, and various personnel is of absolute importance.Superintendent shall be responsible for and promote jobsite safety, and quality control, while ensuring all jobsite personnel/ subcontractors adhere to all company safety policies.Communicate with Operations (Project management team) regarding RFI’s, material submittals, as well as schedule and manage all site inspections.Perform Superintendent duties at multiple job sites and maintain daily written logs and punch lists of all active job sites.Plan and manage projects from initial mobilization to completion. Including self-performing trade work when required.
Qualifications
7+ years of experience in residential construction supervision with heavy focus on land development (grading, underground utilities, SWPPP, Landscape/ Hardscape etc.).Ability to manage multiple complexities and tasks while thriving in a fast-paced startup environmentAbility to read plans quickly as well as work efficiently with tools (hand & power) as needed to expedite project requirements.Proficiency in all field construction processes (Plans, Permits, RFIs, Submittals).Proven ability to supervise and maintain project schedules with subcontractors and in house teams.Background in modular construction and/or heavy machinery, or interest in future of home construction is a plus.Must have valid California Driver’s license with clean DMV record and be able to pass background check.
Compensation
Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on skills, education, experience, and location is $120,000 - $160,000 annually for Hayward, CA and surrounding areas.
