Northrop Grumman Space Systems – Launch and Missile Defense Systems has an exciting career opportunity for a Software Engineer – SW Engineer (RA) to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Colorado Springs, CO.
Position Overview:
The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program integrates the Missile Defense System. It is a vital operational system that enables the U.S. president, secretary of defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels to systematically plan ballistic missile defense operations.
This position is for a Software Engineer in the C2BMC program. The candidate will be responsible for software development in Java, performing in-depth analysis and technical support of systems software products, including complex problem resolution, design, development, testing, operational integration, and user support.
Essential Functions:
Command and control system application development.
Test-driven development experience.
Experience developing software for
Unix/Linux
and
Windows
platforms.
Experience with Software Integration testing, including developing automated test scripts.
Strong problem-solving skills.
Experience with performance modeling.
Experience with microservices.
Experience with building management tools and pipelines.
Designing and building Graphical User Interfaces.
Good verbal and written communication skills, can work independently, and possess the poise and flexibility required to work in a highly dynamic environment.
Good working knowledge of MS Office products.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline preferred from an accredited university and 2 years of related experience or a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 0 years of experience, or 6 years of experience in lieu of a degree.
Ability and willingness to travel up-to 10% to support business needs.
Applicants must have a current active in-scope DoD issued secret security clearance at the time of application which is required to start.
Software engineering and software development with
Java
experience.
Experience and knowledge of basic software practices such as
coding standards
and
configuration management .
Experience developing enterprise applications in
Java
on
Linux .
Experience with Java foundation classes and toolkits.
Experience working as part of an Agile team.
Experience and knowledge with the use of common software development and management tools such as:
Git ,
Nexus ,
JIRA ,
Confluence ,
Maven or Gradle ,
Eclipse .
Understand standard system engineering design artifacts such as
Use Cases
and
SysML diagrams .
Preferred Qualifications:
DoD 8140 certification at
IAT Level II or higher
(Security+, GSEC, SCNP, SSCP, CISSP, CISA, GSE, SCNA) at the start is highly desired.
Flexibility and willingness to take on unanticipated tasks is highly desirable.
Automated test and pipeline development experience desired.
