Northrop Grumman Space Systems – Launch and Missile Defense Systems has an exciting career opportunity for a Software Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in the Colorado Springs, CO.

Position Overview:

The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program integrates the Missile Defense System. It is a vital operational system that enables the U.S. president, secretary of defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels to systematically plan ballistic missile defense operations.

This position is for a mid-level Software Engineer in the C2BMC Global program. The candidate will primarily be responsible for software development using Java.

Essential Functions:

Interact with other people using good verbal and written communication skills.

Work independently or with a small group.

Be flexible in a highly dynamic and ever-changing environment.

Provide in-depth analysis and technical support of a large, distributed system written in Java.

Resolve complex problems, design, develop, test, integrate, and support users for a large code baseline.

Follow specifications to develop or modify functionality within the code.

Assist with design, benchmark testing, debugging, and documentation.

Interface with other system support groups to resolve problems, set standards, and improve efficiency.

Design, code, test, and implement automation tools.

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline preferred from an accredited university and 2 years of related experience or a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 0 years of experience, or 6 years of related experience in lieu of a degree.

Familiarity with Java Spring.

Experience with software programming in Java.

Ability and willingness to travel locally up to 10% to support business needs.

Applicants must have an active Secret clearance which is required to start with the ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

Active TS/SCI clearance is highly desired.

Possessing a DoD 8140 certification at IAT Level II or higher is highly desired.

Strong problem-solving skills are desired, including reviewing performance issues, identifying root causes, and recommending and developing a solution.

Experience working as part of an Agile team.

Familiarity with containerization tools such as Docker/Kubernetes.

Experience developing software for Unix/Linux and Windows platforms is desired.

$79,300 - $118,900
