Northrop Grumman Space Systems – Launch and Missile Defense Systems has an exciting career opportunity for a Software Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Colorado Springs, CO.

Position Overview:

The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program integrates the Missile Defense System. It is a vital operational system that enables the U.S. president, secretary of defense, and combatant commanders to systematically plan ballistic missile defense operations and to dynamically manage designated networked sensors and weapons systems.

This position is for a Mid-Level Software Engineer on the C2BMC Global program.

Essential Functions:

Primarily be responsible for software development using Java.

Work independently or with a small group.

Be flexible in a highly dynamic and ever-changing environment.

Provide in-depth analysis and technical support of a large, distributed system written in Java.

Perform complex problem resolution, design, development, testing, integration, and user support for a large code baseline.

Follow specifications to develop or modify functionality within the code.

Assist with design, benchmark testing, debugging and documentation.

Design, code, test, and implement tools for automation.

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM discipline preferred from an accredited university and 2 years of related experience or a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 0 years of experience, or 6 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree may be considered.

Strong background programming in Java.

Experience working as part of an Agile team.

Java Spring experience and knowledge.

Knowledge and experience with containerization tools such as Docker/Kubernetes.

Knowledge of server-side development and message passing.

Experience developing enterprise applications.

Use of common software development and management tools such as Git, Nexus, JIRA, Confluence, Maven, Gradle, and Eclipse.

Familiarity with standard system engineering design artifacts such as Use Cases and UML diagrams.

Automated test and pipeline development experience.

Experience developing software for Unix/Linux and Windows platforms.

Experience with Software Integration testing, including developing automated test scripts.

Experience with Risk Management Framework/STIG/Fortify mitigation.

Ability to work effectively in a rapid-paced, team environment.

Strong problem-solving skills, including reviewing performance issues, identifying root causes, and recommending and developing a solution.

Flexibility and willingness to take on unanticipated tasks.

Command and control system application development.

Prior experience designing and developing microservices and deploying with containers.

Ability and willingness to travel up-to 10% to support business needs.

Current active in-scope DoD issued secret security clearance at the time of application.

Preferred Qualifications:

Active and current TS/SCI clearance at the time of application is highly desired.

Current DoD 8140 certification at IAT Level II or higher is highly desired.

Salary Range:

$79,300 - $118,900

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
