Northrop Grumman Space Systems – Launch and Missile Defense Systems has an exciting career opportunity for a Sr Principal Engineer Software – Software Engineer (ES) (24-227) (E3) to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located out of Colorado Springs, CO.

Position Overview:

The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program integrates the Missile Defense System. It is a vital operational system that enables the U.S. president, secretary of defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels to systematically plan ballistic missile defense operations. C2BMC supports a layered missile defense capability that enables an optimized response to threats of all ranges in all phases of flight.

This position is for a Software Engineer in the C2BMC program. The candidate will be responsible for Java software development for the Enterprise Services team. Under minimal direction, the candidate will provide specialized expertise within multiple systems and software disciplines.

Essential Functions:

Responsible for performing in-depth analysis and technical support of systems software products, including complex problem resolution, design, development, testing, operational integration, and user support.

Maintains currency, debugs, and configures related software products.

Works from specifications to develop or modify operating systems applications.

Assisted with design, coding, benchmark testing, debugging, and program documentation.

Interfaces with other system support groups to resolve problems, set standards, and improve the overall efficiency of the operating system.

Designs, codes, tests, and implements tools for operations automation.

Works on most phases of software systems programming applications.

Command and control system application development.

Experience with Software Integration and verification testing.

Ability to present advanced concepts to non-software engineers.

Flexibility and willingness to take on unanticipated tasks as directed by program management.

The ability to work independently and in a highly dynamic environment.

Good working knowledge of MS Office products.

Basic Qualifications:

An active Secret clearance is required to start.

9 years with a Bachelor’s degree in software engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, or a related field; 7 years experience with a Master’s degree.

Must possess a DoD 8140 certification at IAT Level II or higher.

Must have strong Java/J2EE experience.

Must have experience with software practices such as coding standards and automated testing.

Must have experience developing enterprise applications.

Experience with Java foundation classes and toolkits is required.

Must have experience in server-side/database development.

Must have knowledge of implementing Cyber Security/RMF requirements.

Must possess experience working as part of an Agile team.

$121,000 - $181,400
