Northrop Grumman Space Systems – Launch and Missile Defense Systems has an exciting career opportunity for a Principal Software Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Colorado Springs, CO.

Position Overview:

This position is for a Principal Software Engineer on the C2BMC program. The selected candidate will be responsible for software development in the Java language. Performing in-depth analysis and technical support of systems software products, including complex problem resolution, design, development, testing, operational integration, and user support.

Essential Functions:

Command and control system application development.

Maintains, debugs, and configures related software products.

Works from specifications to develop or modify operating systems applications.

Assists with design, coding, benchmark testing, debugging and documentation of programs.

Interfaces with other system support groups to resolve problems, set standards, and improve the overall efficiency of the operating system.

Designs, codes, tests, and implements tools for operations automation.

Works on most phases of software systems programming applications and may require instruction and guidance.

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline preferred from an accredited university and 5 years of related experience, or a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 3 years of experience, or a PhD and 1 years of experience, or 9 years of related experience in lieu of a degree may be considered.

Applicants must have a current active in-scope DoD issued secret security clearance at the time of application which is required to start.

DoD 8140 certification at IAT Level II or higher (Security+, GSEC, SCNP, SSCP, CISSP, CISA, GSE, SCNA) at the start or within 60 days of start.

Software engineering and software development with Java/JEE experience.

Experience and knowledge of basic software practices such as coding standards and configuration management.

Experience developing enterprise applications.

Familiarity with Java foundation classes and toolkits.

Knowledge of server-side/database development and computer system administration.

Applicants must have effective oral and written communication skills and an ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment.

Experience with Software Integration testing, including developing automated test scripts.

Strong problem-solving skills, including reviewing performance issues, identifying root causes, and recommending and developing a solution.

Possess the ability to work independently and with the poise and flexibility required to work in a highly dynamic environment.

Applicants should have an excellent working knowledge of MS Office products.

Understand standard system engineering design artifacts such as Use Cases and SysML diagrams.

Experience developing software for Unix/Linux and Windows platforms.

Experience with Risk Management Framework/STIG/Fortify/SonarQube mitigation.

Experience working as part of an Agile team.

Use of common software development and management tools such as Git, Nexus, JIRA, Confluence, Maven or Gradle, and Eclipse.

Salary Range:

$97,500 - $146,300

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
