We have an exciting opportunity for a

Sr. Principal Systems Engineer - Chief Architect

supporting one of our premier programs in the business unit, where your knowledge of networking, infrastructure, security, and most importantly your experience with designing / architecting solutions will keep you challenged. This position is on-site role at our Richardson, TX or Aurora, CO campus.

What You Will Do

Ensure new missions seamlessly integrate with existing program technical baseline

Develop and maintain improvement roadmaps

Work with program leadership to ensure effective risk mitigation, testing, and opportunity capture

Apply scientific and mathematical knowledge when performing engineering tasks

Use systems thinking to contribute to modeling and analysis and work independently to create system architecture model products

Review the outputs of systems modeling and analysis, ensuring the results can be used for the intended purpose

Support and attend technical inspection reviews and technical interchanges in support of the program as the systems architect

Qualifications You Must Have

Typically requires a Bachelor's Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum 10+ years of prior relevant experience

Active Top Secret / SCI Security Clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Experience with architecture governance and System Engineering design principles

Experience in ground satellite control systems and a deep understanding of the Tasking Command Processing Exploitation and Dissemination (TCPED) flow

Experience conducting system architecture in systems that interact with external entities

Qualifications We Prefer

Ability to decompose and communicate system architecture and governance concepts as well as experience working projects, and/or programs consisting of Ground-related SE, SW development, and IV&V functions

Strong analytical and problem solving abilities as well as demonstrated ability to effectively work with and communicate with management and individual contributors

Experience with any of the following: Cloud technologies and migration to the Cloud, Containerization and databases, Automation (Build, Deploy, Test), Agile tool sets (JIRA, Confluence, Bitbucket, etc.), and/or Evaluation of COTS/FOSS

Experience with different Architecture Frameworks

Experience working in DevOps and/or DevSecOps in an Agile development environment

Experience with modeling resources and methodologies (Cameo)

Thorough working knowledge of: Reliability Maintainability and Availability Analysis, Volumetric and Margin Analysis, Systems and Software Design Patterns, Cloud and On-Premise Hybrid Architectures

Experience working in or with multiple Engineering Disciplines (Software, Database, Infrastructure, Security, Systems, and/or Test)

Experience with IT products, services, and operations

The salary range for this role is 118,000 USD - 246,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
