This opportunity is with one of our most exciting business units at UHG, Optum Specialty Pharmacy. Use your sales skills to identify opportunities, uncover needs, and provide solutions to physician’s offices. The ideal candidate will have a hunter mentality, be ready to contribute new ideas on how to manage a sales territory, and work with the team and management on solutions to our customers’ challenges. In addition to base pay, our outside sales reps participate in a monthly commission plan that is uncapped. Successful sales reps will have the opportunity to grow into other roles such as training and management.
If you are located in Northern California, you will have the flexibility to work in the field as you take on some tough challenges.
Primary Responsibilities:
Building relationships with physician’s offices that deal with complex chronic diseases specific to Dermatology, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Hepatitis C, and Crohn’s Disease.
Within your assigned territory use effective communication primarily in person – as well as via phone, email, MSTeams, to consistently move customers or prospects toward commitment of choosing Optum Specialty Pharmacy.
Qualify prospects and uncover provider needs to win choice prescription volume to our Specialty Pharmacy.
Present solutions and key benefits of Optum Specialty Pharmacy to physician’s offices.
Collaborate with our internal pharmacy personnel partners to ensure that customer and patients expectations are met.
Demonstrate persistence, overcome obstacles, and create solutions to improve your skills and achieve your revenue goals.
Work closely with Manager and Senior Director of Sales to determine best plan of action for top accounts in your territory.
Establish relationships with pharmaceutical manufacturer reps in your territory.
Utilize Salesforce.com and all Optum Specialty Pharmacy sales/marketing tools, territory data/reports to successfully grow your book of business and achieve stated goals.
Uphold the highest ethical standards, comply with all UHG and government policies and regulations.

Required Qualifications:
2+ years of experience in medical device, pharma, specialty pharmacy sales and/or business-to-business sales.
Knowledge and proficiency utilizing Salesforce.com.
Proven track record of sales success.
Proficient use of Outlook, Word, Excel, and Power Point.
Exceptional in person selling presence and ability to communicate effectively.
Live in Northern California - San Jose or East Bay.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience selling in the Dermatology, Rheumatoid Arthritis, or Gastroenterology space (e.g. Hepatitis C, Crohn’s Disease, etc.).
Completed sales training programs (such as Challenger, or in person training).
Documented experience gaining access to healthcare providers.
Excellent verbal and written communications skills.

The salary range for this role is $60,000 to $130,000 annually. Role is also eligible to receive bonuses based on sales performance. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
