The Enterprise Procurement team, centralized within UHG Corporate Services, works across Optum, UHC, and UHG. With this horizontal lens, Enterprise Procurement is uniquely positioned to support Optum's sourcing and procurement strategies by enabling holistic end-to-end solutions through its ecosystem of procurement capabilities. This is a highly visible role where influencing internal and external key stakeholders will be critical to success to supporting Optum Health’s enterprise clinical operations category spend.In collaboration with Optum Health Care Delivery Organizations and Optum Rx this role leads strategic supplier relationships and negotiations, related Group Purchasing Organization relationships, sourcing, contracting, and supplier management and performance.The successful candidate must be passionate about customer service and a service first culture, driving value and performance improvements related to Optum Health’s cost, service, support, and product availability.
The ideal candidate is a recognized industry leader in pharmaceutical and wholesaler procurement, with a track record of value creation, innovation, and service excellence.
This role will closely partner with business stakeholders across UnitedHealth Group, UnitedHealthcare, and Optum, with a specific focus on Optum Health, one the most diverse and quickly expanding business segments. As a member of the Enterprise Procurement leadership team, this role will lead their team and internal customers to execute on supplier and sourcing strategies developed in partnership across UHG’s multiple business segments.

Develop strong customer relationships with key business stakeholders by adding value through strategic guidance and recommendations
Partner effectively with peers toward achieving shared team outcomes
Be motivated by and promote continual improvement, identify customer solutions in the face of ambiguity and contribute toward team outcomes
Manage team performance goals through objective measures with clear alignment against customer expectations

Bachelor’s OR equivalent work experience
10+ years progressive experience in building and managing corporate supply management / procurement functions or management consulting with focus on procurement operations, strategic sourcing and supply chain
7+ years of procurement experience in Acute, Non-Acute, Ambulatory, Pharma, and/or Life-Sciences focused procurement roles, partnering directly with clinicians to define long-term category and supplier strategies, leveraging standardized business processes, data & analytics with a focus on continuous improvement
Knowledge of clinical sourcing and procurement, inclusive of industry and supplier trends, group purchasing organizations, and physician preference products
Expertise in supplier negotiations, with strong background in pricing strategy, “should-cost / tear-down” modeling, legal terms, supplier risk management, and service-level requirements
Experience integrating unique customer needs, suppliers, team members, and processes introduced through M&A activity
Solid executive presence with both written and verbal communication abilities across all audience levels
Solid track record of stakeholder management and influencing outcomes
Ability to lead remote and global team members
Candidate must be open to 10%+ travel
Preferred Qualifications :
Master’s/MBA or related graduate degree
Post-merger integration
Private-Equity portfolio and/or holding company supplier rationalization
