JOB SUMMARY

We seek a dynamic and versatile Marketing Director to lead and elevate marketing and public relations efforts aligned with our mission, vision and strategic plan in partnership with the VP, Marketing & Guest Experience. The director will be responsible for implementing a marketing strategy to enhance the visibility, brand and financial sustainability. The role also assists in managing the Gift Shop and Guest Experience. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in multichannel storytelling, revenue-driven marketing, excellent leadership skills and a passion for nature and conservation. This role is a key leader for marketing and guest experience that supports the implementation of a comprehensive marketing strategy with an emphasis on earned media including product innovation, promotional activity, and merchandising. Provide copywriting/editing as needed for marketing collateral, digital advertising, social media, presentations, and PR.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

Strategic Leadership:

Assist the Sr. VP, Marketing and Guest Experience in implementation of a comprehensive strategic marketing plan that aligns with DABS’ mission and goals. Lead and inspire diverse teams to achieve high performance and creative solutions. Monitor and analyze market trends and cultural destination best practices to identify opportunities and challenges.

Earned Media:

Develop and maintain relationships with media to secure earned media coverage, increasing brand awareness and driving event attendance. Schedule and prep relevant staff for on-camera or radio promotional spots. Actively solicit media sponsorships and on-site promotions (such as radio promotions during concerts). Create news releases, media kits, and media distribution lists.

Digital Marketing and Creative Services:

Assist the Sr. VP, Marketing and Guest Experience in managing the development and execution of digital marketing campaigns across multiple platforms, including social media, email marketing and website, while overseeing graphic design, photography and videography that positively reflects the DABS brand.

Guest Experience:

Assist in managing guest experience employees ensuring an exceptional, welcoming and informative guest experience. Oversee Guest Experience departmental budgeting. Help recruit, train and manage guest experience staff including front gate, front and information desks. Develop and implement comprehensive training programs focused on best practice, DABS information and emergency procedures. Work closely with event teams to coordinate logistics and support for special events, tours and more. Oversee ticketing and admissions processes, ensuring smooth efficient operations especially during peak times.

Gift Shop:

Assist the Sr. VP, Marketing and Guest Experience in managing the marketing, operations and content offerings of the on-site gift shop to enhance guest experience, reflect the brand and drive revenue.

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, communications or a related field. Master’s degree a plus.

Related experience working for a nonprofit or cultural destination organization a plus.

Minimum eight years of marketing experience, with at least three years in a leadership role.

Proven experience in earned media, building relationships with editors and reporters, and understanding how to create compelling stories to draw positive media attention.

Retail sales and management, guest experience a plus.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills using correct grammatical and professional writing techniques; professional image both on the phone and in person.

Good computer skills. Knowledge of Office 365 a plus.

Ability to sit for extended periods of time for office functions and to physically facilitate promotions/media events on property.

Ability to work flexible hours, including nights/weekends as needed.

Driver’s license to drive garden vehicles.
