Materials Senior Scientist
to lead the single-crystal growth of GaAs and other linear and non-linear electro-optical infrared (EOIR) materials.
Responsibilities include:
Lead single-crystal growth R&D for GaAs and other EOIR materials
Collaborate with fellow scientists, engineers, managers, and technicians
Drive innovation in crystal growth techniques and processes
Ensure adherence to safety procedures and cleanroom protocols
Facilitate the transition of new technologies to manufacturing
QUALIFICATIONSTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily and be able to multi-task. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
BS or higher degree in relevant materials science required
A U.S. citizen eligible for a potential U.S. Government security clearance
Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
Ability to work effectively in a matrix-managed environment
Self-motivated with a passion for technology innovation and creative problem-solving
Engineering and problem-solving skills, e.g. mathematical modeling, programming, root-cause analysis, process design
PREFERRED SKILLS
Experience in GaAs VGF or vertical/horizontal Bridgman crystal growth, thin film deposition, and/or Czochralski crystal growth
Proficiency in data analysis, statistical tools (e.g., JMP), and crystal growth modeling tools (e.g., CGSim)
Government program management experience
Familiarity with semiconductor R&D facilities, cleanroom best-practices, and safety procedures
Experience in transitioning technologies from basic R&D to low-volume manufacturing
