5N Plus is a leading global producer of engineered materials and specialty chemicals with facilities in North America, Europe and Asia. 5N Plus Semiconductors, located in picturesque St. George, Utah, produces specialty semiconductor single-crystal substrates for infrared and x-ray detectors used in both civilian and national security applications.5N Plus Semiconductors is an equal opportunity / affirmative action employer.We are seeking a full-time, salaried Materials Senior Scientist to lead the single-crystal growth of GaAs and other linear and non-linear electro-optical infrared (EOIR) materials.POSITION SUMMARYWe are seeking a full-time, salaried Materials Senior Scientist to lead the single-crystal growth of GaAs and other linear and non-linear electro-optical infrared (EOIR) materials.Responsibilities include:Lead single-crystal growth R&D for GaAs and other EOIR materialsCollaborate with fellow scientists, engineers, managers, and techniciansDrive innovation in crystal growth techniques and processesEnsure adherence to safety procedures and cleanroom protocolsFacilitate the transition of new technologies to manufacturingQUALIFICATIONSTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily and be able to multi-task. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.EDUCATION / EXPERIENCEBS or higher degree in in relevant materials science requiredA U.S. citizen eligible for a potential U.S. Government security clearanceExcellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skillsAbility to work effectively in a matrix-managed environmentSelf-motivated with a passion for technology innovation and creative problem-solvingEngineering and problem-solving skills, e.g. mathematical modeling, programming, root-cause analysis, process designPREFERRED SKILLSExperience in GaAs VGF or vertical/horizontal Bridgman crystal growth, thin film deposition, and/or Czochralski crystal growthProficiency in data analysis, statistical tools (e.g., JMP), and crystal growth modeling tools (e.g., CGSim)Familiarity with semiconductor R&D facilities, cleanroom best-practices, and safety proceduresExperience in transitioning technologies from basic R&D to low-volume manufacturingA pre-employment background check and drug screen are requiredFor more information, or to apply now, you must go to the website below.
