Are you passionate about sports and community engagement? The Benjamin Harrison YMCA is looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Director of Sports to lead our vibrant sports programs for youth and adults. If you're ready to make a positive impact in our community, we want to hear from you!
GENERAL FUNCTION
Under the guidance of the Associate Executive Director, the Director of Sports will oversee all aspects of our sports initiatives. This includes supervising and directly engaging with participants in both youth and adult sports programs. You will be responsible for developing and administering the sports department, implementing marketing strategies, evaluating program effectiveness, and managing staff and volunteers to achieve our Center and Association goals.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
Serve as a First Responder in emergencies.Develop and manage departmental budgets, ensuring financial targets are met.Recruit, train, and supervise part-time staff and volunteers.Communicate and promote the YMCA's goals and objectives to the community.Evaluate programs and recommend enhancements to align with our mission.Guide committees in formulating policies and programs that reflect our vision.Oversee public relations, planning, and promotional efforts for the Center.Participate in the Annual Campaign and support international initiatives, including World Service education and fundraising.WHO YOU ARE:
You hold a BA/BS degree in Child Development, Recreation, Elementary Education, or a related field, or have equivalent experience.You have 3-5 years of professional experience in a YMCA or similar organization.You possess strong programming skills, particularly in youth and family activities.You can connect with individuals of all ages and backgrounds.You have experience in fiscal management, volunteer recruitment, and program development.You stay current with community trends and are committed to building relationships within the community.WHY JOIN US?
