Mabbett & Associates, Inc. (Mabbett), an award-winning leading provider of environmental, health and safety consulting, and engineering services to federal, state and local agencies, and private commercial, institutional and industrial clients nationally. We are seeking a senior scientist to support the firm’s growing natural resources practice, with an emphasis on assignments working under the provisions of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and in a wide range of state and local jurisdictions. This role will work with a wide variety of clients and project types, from small local developments to large federal projects.
Responsibilities
Provide technical leadership and client management.
Provide technical expertise, lead project implementation, and assist the firm’s Natural Resources Practice Lead to develop strategies for growth.
Assess the potential impacts of infrastructure and development projects.
Perform wetland delineations.
Design wetland and habitat mitigation.
Conduct biological inventories.
Prepare regulatory agency permit applications.
Support NEPA and state-equivalent reports.
Work cross functionally with other practice areas within the firm.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Ecology, Wildlife Biology, Natural Resource Management, or a related course of study.
Minimum of 7 years’ experience in the natural resources market, including but not limited to wetland delineation, habitat delineation, impact assessment, regulatory compliance, archeology, or cultural resources.
Demonstrated experience preparing and obtaining jurisdictional determinations.
Demonstrated skills in field ecology, data analysis, writing, environmental regulatory compliance.
Experience with NEPA and working for the federal or state government a plus.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office products: Word and Excel. Familiarity with ArcGIS a plus.
Ability to travel, work in the field, work outdoors, and lift and carry items weighing up to 60 lbs.
Excellent organizational and personal communication skills; ability to successfully interact with clients, staff, and peers clearly and directly; capable of functioning both independently and on a team.
This position requires field work in all types of weather and terrain; flexibility and preparedness are a must.
