Company Overview:

We are a medium-sized transportation company based in Cocoa, FL, seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Head of Finance to lead our financial strategy and manage accounting functions. This is an in-office position that requires a hands-on leader to oversee the finance, accounting, and HR operations. A CPA license is required to ensure compliance and excellence in financial management.

Job Summary:

The HOF will be responsible for managing all aspects of the company’s accounting, corporate tax planning, financial reporting, and internal controls. This role includes oversight of HR and payroll, ensuring smooth operations and regulatory compliance. Proficiency in QuickBooks and a deep understanding of financial best practices in the transportation industry are essential.

Key Responsibilities:

Accounting and Financial Reporting:

Oversee daily accounting operations, including maintaining and reconciling general ledger accounts in QuickBooks.

Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports, providing insights into financial health and performance.

Implement and manage internal controls to protect assets and ensure compliance with GAAP.

Supervise accounts payable and receivable functions to ensure timely and accurate invoicing, payments, and collections.

Review and approve journal entries, account reconciliations, and other adjustments.

Budgeting, Forecasting, and Financial Analysis:

Lead the annual budgeting process, ensuring alignment with company goals.

Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and cost-saving opportunities.

Provide timely, accurate financial data to support strategic decision-making by the executive team.

Corporate Tax Planning and Compliance:

Develop and implement effective tax strategies to optimize financial performance.

Oversee federal, state, and local tax filings, ensuring timely and accurate submissions.

Work with external auditors and tax professionals as needed.

Human Resources and Payroll Oversight:

Oversee payroll processing and HR compliance, including employee benefits and personnel policies.

Collaborate with HR to ensure the company’s policies and practices meet regulatory requirements and best practices.

Ensure accurate payroll tax filings and employee record-keeping.

Financial Systems Management:

Manage and optimize QuickBooks, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.

Implement and maintain accounting software updates, policies, and procedures.

Evaluate and recommend financial software and tools to support business growth.

Strategic Planning and Support:

Act as a strategic advisor to the CEO, supporting financial planning and corporate growth initiatives.

Participate in executive decision-making and provide financial guidance to improve overall business performance.

Qualifications:

CPA License: Required.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Master’s degree preferred).

Experience: 5+ years in a Controller or CFO role within the transportation or logistics industry.

Technical Skills: Proficient in QuickBooks, Microsoft Excel, and other financial software.

Knowledge: Thorough understanding of corporate tax planning, GAAP, HR, payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable processes.

Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

$75,000 to $125,000.00
