The Director of Finance holds the overall responsibility for the financial health and integrity of The LUX Group family of companies – LUX Events, Market Catering, DRNK, LUX Floral and Design, and LUX Hospitality Group. This hands-on role oversees all finance functions of the companies, including strategic planning, budgeting, forecasting, cost controls, process improvements, and managing small accounting and payroll teams. This key leadership role requires a proactive approach to propelling the mission of The LUX Group companies forward.
As a key member of the executive management team, the Director of Finance will interact with the Managing Partners and other leaders of the company. The role includes:
Financial Management:
Oversee the preparation of all financial statements according to GAAP and best practices and deliver accurate and timely management reports.
Implement strategies to increase revenue and reduce costs.
Conduct financial planning, analysis, metric reporting, and dashboard management.
Create and manage forecasting and budgets.
Audit event costs and revenue for financial accuracy.
Reconcile critical balance sheet accounts.
Leadership and Team Management:
Provide leadership, direction, and management of the accounting team, including accounts payable (A/P), accounts receivable (A/R), cash management, tax, commission preparation, payroll, and human resource functions.
Manage accounting records and monitor expenditures.
Support the sales staff in collecting payments for events.
Create monthly commission reports for the sales teams.
Process Improvement and Auditing:
Oversee finance and HR-related procedures, SOPs, and audit controls.
Liaise with the tax firm and auditors to ensure compliance.
Strategic Planning and Analysis:
Advise on long-term business and financial planning.
Provide strategic recommendations to the Managing Partners and senior management team.
Perform analysis related to new business opportunities.
Analyze company data and market trends to make informed financial decisions and maximize profits.
Reporting and Forecasting:
Assist management with weekly departmental dashboards and monthly financial statement preparation.
Perform variance analysis and other ad hoc analytical reporting.
Forecast revenue in collaboration with the Sales Director.
Job Qualifications and Requirements:
A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is required; a higher-level degree is preferred.
At least 15 years of relevant work experience, including proven leadership and management expertise, is essential.
Strong analytical skills with a demonstrated ability to increase company profitability and excellence in the workplace.
Experience in managing budgets, forecasting, and formulating financial strategies.
Highly organized, fanatically accurate, and capable of engaging with staff at all levels of the organization.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the executive presence to work with senior management.
Proficiency in Excel, QuickBooks, and other critical software.
Must possess a strong work ethic and a commitment to upholding company culture.
