Position Summary
Responsible for the development and management of the company’s risk and claims handling approach. Communicates risk policies and processes for the organization and provides hands-on development of the risk management process. Responsible for all aspects of the company’s insurance and risk management program, including coverage for General Liability, Workers’ Compensation, Automobile, Property, Financial Professional Coverage, and Bonds. Provides enterprise risk management expertise to the organization, assures controls are operating effectively, and provides research and analytical support.
Essential Functions
Serves as the Company’s primary, internal resource for all aspects of the Company’s risk management and insurance activities.
Responsible for the identification, assessment/measurement, and management of Company-wide risk.
Identifies potential risk exposures, recommends solutions, implements approved programs, promotes loss prevention, and monitors/reports upon compliance.
Partners with key stakeholders to develop and implement standards, processes, programs, and best practices related to risk management.
Responsibilities include evaluating and recommending purchase of insurance programs, management of claims and loss control activities, management of relationships with third party service providers including brokers, insurers and other TPAs, preparing loss analyses and budgets, identifying exposures, recommending solutions, implementing approved programs, promoting loss prevention, updating, and monitoring compliance with insurance procedures and managing safety/risk management manuals.
Manages all phases of the incident and claims process (including workers compensation), from intake and investigation through litigation and settlement, and interfaces with legal counsel, TPA and insurance companies to report upon the status of all claims to the Executive Team and other internal stakeholders as necessary.
Responsible for direction, investigation, litigation management and resolution of all complex claims.
Coordinates and submits the gathering of insurance policy renewal data.
Serves as the Company’s primary interface and manager with the insurance brokers to ensure that all policies are cost effective, complete, and approved by the Executive Team and renewed timely.
Assists with business units, legal, contracting and safety to provide expertise with all risk and insurance matters.
Maintains the database of all incidents, claims and insurance costs.
Partners with all departments as necessary regarding incident reports and claims.
Investigates and responds to incidents and claims as directed by the Executive Team.
Provides timely notification of claims to the insurance carriers.
Provides input and technical guidance for best practices in risk management, loss prevention and operations.
Provides educational guidance to Risk Manager / Claims Manager as well as to other business units.
Other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience
Bachelor's Degree
Licensed Texas Risk Manager
Licensed Insurance Adjuster
RIMS- CRMP, CRM, ARM & AIC designations
7 – 10 years of experience in risk management
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
Ability to work effectively in cross-functional team initiatives
Must understand financial implications of various business decisions.
Very critical in managing the business and identifying problems or opportunities.
Continues to identify expertise and educational opportunities that will assist and streamline department
Work Conditions/Physical Demands
Remaining in a stationary position, often standing, or sitting for prolonged periods.
Light work that includes moving objects up to 20 pounds.
No adverse environmental conditions expected.
