Join us and play an important part on our incredible team!What you get to do:Provide for proper nutrition, appropriate and sanitary living conditions, and constant care for our park animals. These positions safely fulfill duties in animal/guest interactions, animal training, husbandry, enrichment, general public presentations, and research.Responsible for all aspects of daily care of the avian collection in the section to which assigned.Job Duties and Responsibilities:Perform daily husbandry tasks including administration of vitamins and medications as directed, food preparation, maintaining a safe and sanitary working area for all animal habitats as directed by area leadership.Responsible for daily care of the avian collection in the area to which assigned.Responsible for guest, personal, and animal safety by developing awareness of the behavioral precursors of potentially harmful behavior by both animals and people.Make daily observations of animals and report any abnormalities to staff supervisor and team.Maintain all animal records, equipment, area responsibilities, and communication requirements on a daily basis.Provide and maintain a work environment that follows the established guidelines and safety procedures set by the department and park.Function as an ambassador by displaying consideration, tolerance, cooperation, open communication, and reliability. Maintain a consistent attitude, motivation, and ability to accept feedback.Perform all supportive roles as directed in education and general public shows to develop speaking skills and stage presence.Provide proactive guest service through guest interactions and responding to guest inquiries.Assist guests and trainers in preparation of and educational aspects during interaction programs.Learn avicultural skills, bird biology, and natural history through on-the-job training and independent study.Learn mechanical systems and husbandry protocols.Diet preparation and feeding; monitor food intake.Inventory and observation of birds; act on observations.Maintain detailed and legible records.Clean, maintain, and enhance exhibits and support areas.Assist with veterinary treatments and procedures including administering topical, oral, and injectable medications, capture, restraint, and caring for salvage birds.Assist with in-house moves and shipments out of the park; set up crates.Set up for breeding season. Monitor nests, eggs, and chicks in exhibits. Monitor progress of eggs in incubator. Hand-rear chicks.Give presentations to guests on avian management and natural history.Communicate professionally and effectively with Ambassadors, Vendors, and our Guests.Perform other duties as assigned.Occasionally assist other locations and areas in the park as needed.What it takes to succeed:Able to demonstrate strong verbal communication skills and enthusiastically share a passion for animals and conservation with our guests.Must be comfortable speaking to large groups of people on stage during presentations.Proficient in talking on a microphone to large crowds of guests.SCUBA certified and have the ability to pass a dive physical.Able to complete provided CPR training/certification.Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Biology, or a related field preferred.Previous Marine Mammal Training and/or Bird of Prey experience preferred.At least 18 years old.A valid state driver’s license and be able to obtain a company driver’s license.Ability to lift, push, pull and/or carry up to 50 lbs.Position engages in extensive walking and standing throughout entire work shift and climb/ascend heights, if needed.Perform the following physical activities: kneeling, squatting, bending floor-to-waist/waist-to-overhead, reaching overhead, simple grasp and fine hand manipulation tasks (use of tools/keyboard/writing).Ability to work indoors and outdoors, in varying weather, to include extreme heat. Position may be exposed to fumes, dust, odors and cold/heat temperature extremes.Perform cleaning duties, including use of cleaning chemicals.Work a flexible schedule/hours based on business need, to include opening, mid-, and closing shifts; nights, weekends, and holidays.Strong written/verbal communication skills; able to read, write, and speak English.Must be flexible in work locations as placement will depend on business needs and career development opportunities.Note:

as a 365 day/year operation, candidates are expected to provide flexible availability to support year-round operating needs. This may include, but is not limited to, working opening, mid-day and closing shifts during peak and non-peak seasons, as well as weekends and holidays.Compensation:
