Principal Systems Engineer

locations who is well versed in systems engineering tools and processes to perform system-level trades, requirements development & flow down, system interface development, performance assessment, integration & test, verification, and validation. Key Responsibilities:
Lead all aspects of system engineering, for large scale, commercial quantum computers - ensuring all subsystems work cohesively and meet performance requirements.
Partner with physics teams to ensure that requirements for engineered systems are understood, mutually compatible, complete
Develop and oversee the end-to-end system design, focusing on scalability, reliability, and system performance.
Work closely with quantum physicists, electrical engineers, mechanical engineers, and software developers to align cross-functional goals.
Define and manage system requirements, specifications, and engineering documentation.
Develop and execute system engineering artifacts for system verification and validation, including risk assessment and mitigation strategies.
Guide technical decisions throughout the product lifecycle, from concept to deployment, ensuring on-time delivery.
Drive continuous improvement in system development processes, tools, and methodologies to ensure the highest quality and reliability.
Lead trade studies to assess system architectures and guide the selection of technologies and vendors.
Communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, ensuring clear understanding and buy-in.
Mentor junior engineers
YOU MUST HAVE:
Bachelor’s degree minimum
Minimum 8+ years of experience in system engineering, hardware design, or system integration roles.
Due to Contractual requirements, must be a U.S. Person. defined as, U.S. citizen permanent resident or green card holder, workers granted asylum or refugee status
We VALUE:
Master’s Degree/Ph.D. in Engineering or related technical field
Proven experience in system engineering or system architecture of highly complex, large-scale technologies (e.g., spacecraft, quantum computers, or other deep physics, multidisciplinary systems).
Quantum aptitude, experience or deep academic exposure to quantum technologies
Ability to deconstruct highly complex systems into clear and comprehensible constituent pieces and work packages
Strong background in requirements engineering, system verification, and validation processes.
Experience leading multi-disciplinary teams and integrating mechanical, electrical, and software systems.
Proficiency in system modeling, simulations, and analysis tools.
Experience with wafer fabrication processes and photonics
Knowledgeable of optical design engineering and optical tolerancing analysis
Demonstrated leadership skills
Experience with requirements management via Cameo MBSE
Experience with MATLAB, C++ or related languages
Proficient in Python
Knowledge of cryogenic systems, ion-trapping techniques, or quantum computing principles is a plus.
Ability to build strong relationships and effectively partner with others.
Strong communication verbal and written communication skills

Compensation & Benefits:
Incentive Eligible
Range posted is inclusive of bonus target when applicable
Estimated Salary Wage: $180,000 - $220,000 Annually
