For a complete description of our benefits for this position, please visit our website.The College of Built Environments (CBE) at the University of Washington is seeking a full-time HR Administrator as part of the newly established Finance & Administration Office (BE-FAO).We are looking for an individual interested in a start-up operation, willing to learn, and adapt to change. We are also looking for a colleague who will champion the College’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion and help our units implement best HR practices to create, retain and support a diverse workforce.The HR Administrator will provide expert consultation and complex support to a mix of academic and non-academic personnel in CBE. The position will handle HR matters requiring independent judgment, analysis, and discretion in creating, implementing, and discharging personnel functions inside and outside of Workday, the UW’s human capital management system. Workday functions encompass the areas of hiring, classification, promotions, onboarding, compensation, benefits, leave management, and payroll for all faculty, staff, postdoctoral scholars, and student employees. This position will be responsible for ensuring that Workday activities are managed accurately and on time and follow compliance requirements per the state, federal, and University regulations. The HR Administrator will also bring a diversity, equity, and inclusion lens to their consultation practice to help clients foster inclusive and equitable workplaces where all employees are valued and thrive.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESThe HR Administrator’s responsibilities require significant organization, problem-solving, project management and communication skills with frequent and substantive interactions within and outside the College FAO Team and Dean’s Office. Individual initiative, solid judgement, discretion regarding sensitive and confidential matters and superior customer service skills are all necessary for the tasks assigned. This position requires accuracy, efficiency, flexibility, creativity, and a desire to serve multiple stakeholders, while working within UW regulations and established HR best practices.Continuously Improve/Manage HR FunctionsIn alignment CBE goals, drive institutional change and effectively develop buy-in for new initiatives and shifting college culture.Determine operational impact on appointments and employment processes.Develop tools that will be used to measure, monitor, and report appointments.Strategize with College leadership to develop solutions used to measure and track performance indicators.Develop and implement recruiting strategies for CBE clients; develop job descriptions and best practices.Compile repository of job descriptions for College use.Manage all updates to the College HR web site’s guidelines and online resources.Identify and recommend process improvements regarding the College’s HR/P process and quality control.Human Resource ManagementAdvise College leadership on policy and appropriate changes affecting the College of Built Environments.Develop College-level policies to ensure consistency in onboarding, training, compliance, and performance evaluations.Manage, consult, and provide guidance around employee relations.Serve as day-to-day expert providing guidance to unit staff, faculty, and administrators regarding UW human resources policies and procedures.Provide College-wide HR and Workday business process consultation as a Workday technical expert.Regularly review and approve departmental transactions in Workday.Use independent judgment, analysis, and discretion to complete HR functions in Workday on behalf of clients for faculty, staff, postdoctoral scholars, and student employees.Consult and advise clients on best practices for advancing diversity, equity and inclusion through various employment actions.Understand, be proficient in, and advise on the complexities of both staff and academic personnel.Attend and participate in College and campus-wide human resources meetings and committees.MINIMUM REQUIREMENTSBachelor’s degree in a related field.Two years of human resources experience at UW, including using Workday.Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTSDemonstrated knowledge of HR policies, procedures, and best practices, including advancing diversity, equity and inclusion across HR competencies.Demonstrated ability to work independently, creatively problem solve, and work effectively with all levels of an organization and diverse groups.Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills communicating with a variety of audiences.Respects cultural differences and has success working in diverse populations.Proactive problem solver who melds analytic reasoning with empathy and understanding.High priority and demonstrated abilities related to equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI).DESIRED QUALIFICATIONSDemonstrated collaborative work style, a belief in partnering, information, and resource sharing.Strong research skills to gather information, communicate it effectively to others, and take appropriate action on behalf of clients.High levels of accountability – a sense of ownership and passion for attaining goals and surpassing expectations.Highly organized, with a demonstrated ability to multitask in a consistently fast-paced environment.Demonstrated experience with change management and building organizational infrastructure.Application Process:
