Director of ResearchBrief description:The Fuller Youth Institute (FYI) at Fuller Theological Seminary seeks a Research Project Coordinator to support and help implement research activities. We seek a full-time, team-minded individual with strong administrative skills; high levels of initiative; judgment and project-management skills; organizational and interpersonal skills; as well as an enthusiasm for the research of the Fuller Youth Institute.Essential Functions:Support Management and Implementation of FYI ResearchServe as the primary contact for research administration, including tracking and anticipating project timelines and deliverables.Assist in coordinating high-quality research that takes into account the diversity of the population's values, beliefs, and behaviors when developing research ideas, conducting research, and exploring the applicability of their findings.Provide administrative support to the Research Director for Institutional Review Board (IRB) submissions, reviews, addenda, and closing documents.Participate in and provide support for data collection: serve as interviewer, transcriptionist, coding, execute phone/email/other contact to participants, track and administer surveys, coordinate the tracking of interviews and focus groups, and manage other forms of data collection.Support regular project meetings, including note-taking for meetings and communication of next steps with appropriate team members.Coordinate arrangements for both online and in-person research gatherings, including scheduling, confirmation with all participants, venue reservation/confirmation, parking, technical support, catering, handouts, setup, cleanup, and other hospitality-related tasks.Budget tracking for various research initiatives, including the execution of financial transactions of these projects as directed: coordinate payments and reimbursements, distribute research participant compensation, and track financial transactions.Assist in tracking, reviewing, and submitting progress and financial reports annually as required by funding agencies according to their guidelines and timelines.Other FYI ResponsibilitiesBased on the ebb and flow of the project activities, the Research Project Coordinator will collaborate with other FYI team members to execute FYI’s various resource and training initiatives, including in-person gatherings.General team participation in meetings and events.Perform other duties as assigned.Knowledge and Skills Required:Bachelor’s degree required.Two to three years of project management and/or event planning experience, preferably in a church and/or academic setting. This includes managing a budget and handling financial transactions.Personal interest in the field of youth/young adult ministry preferred.Strong verbal and written communication skills.Strong interpersonal skills: ability to deal warmly, professionally, and effectively with people both on the phone and in person.Strong computer skills, with competence in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Keynote, Gmail, Google docs, Google calendar, and high Internet proficiency.Works well in a multicultural environment with a focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion.High attention to deadlines, accuracy, and details.Ability to learn quickly, including creativity in problem-solving and troubleshooting.Ability and desire to work in a distinctly Christian environment.Ability to work effectively both independently and as a member of a team and to perform effectively in a multi-task environment.Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends for special events.Additional Remarks:Must be willing to abide by Fuller Community Standards.This is a grant/gift-funded position that may be time-limited and/or contingent upon sufficient funding. In the event the funding is discontinued, the position may be eliminated. Current funding extends through 2027.This position is available for remote work within the United States and is subject to payroll state approval by Fuller Theological Seminary.Ability to work consistently from the FYI office in Pasadena, California is preferred.Pay Scale:Hourly rate the seminary expects to pay: $21.65 - $24.00 per hour, USD.Fuller Theological Seminary is an Equal Employment Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer.
