Join Us in Making a Difference at DJS! The Maryland Department of Juvenile Services (DJS) is dedicated to transforming young lives, creating safer communities, and fostering equitable systems. We are seeking passionate individuals for the role of a Rapid Response GPS Worker, so come join our team and make a meaningful impact on youth and the community at DJS! The GPS system monitors youth movement and compliance to time and location parameters, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. The system records the youth's position as frequently as every 10 seconds. The GPS unit continuously records the youth's location data throughout the day and reports whether a youth is in an exclusion zone or inclusion zone.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Education:

Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate acceptable to the Maryland State Board of Education as described in the Correctional Training Commission regulation.Experience:

One year of experience supervising youth in a structured environment, such as in a recreation center or school setting, or in a juvenile services facility or community program.Notes:

1. The above educational requirement is set by the Maryland Correctional Training Commission in accordance with the Correctional Services Article, Section 8-209, Annotated Code of Maryland. 2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in Correctional Officer classifications or Correctional Officer specialty codes in the Miscellaneous Occupations field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS:

Applicants must meet the minimum and selective qualifications to be considered. Include clear and specific information on your application regarding your qualifications. Candidates for this position must possess experience providing supervision and guidance to juveniles under court-ordered placement.DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

The preferred candidate for this position may possess any of the following qualifications: 1. Three years of experience supervising youth in a structured environment, such as in a recreation center or school setting, or a juvenile services facility or community program. 2. Experience supervising youth in a juvenile facility. 3. Knowledge of the processes and procedures of the juvenile court system.LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS:

1. Candidates appointed to positions in this classification must obtain certification by the Maryland Correctional Training Commission. 2. Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

1. In accordance with the Correctional Services Article, Section 8-209 of the Annotated Code of Maryland, the Maryland Correctional Training Commission shall establish the minimum qualifications for probationary or permanent appointment of a Department of Juvenile Services employee in a mandated position. These requirements are listed in detail in the Code of Maryland Regulations 12.10.01.04, general regulations of the Maryland Correctional Training Commission, and include: U.S. Citizenship or Resident Alien status, must be at least 21 years of age, a thorough background check, including fingerprinting and drug testing, an oral interview, and physical and psychological examinations. 2. Employees in this classification are subject to substance abuse testing in accordance with Code of Maryland Regulations 17.04.09, Testing for Illegal Use of Drugs.SELECTION PROCESS:
