LifeMoves is seeking a highly motivated Family Education Specialist to facilitate and coordinate parenting, teen, and children’s programming in our shelters and for our programs. Under the supervision of the Program Director and Manager of Children & Family Services, the Education Specialist will provide in-person parenting, wellness, and educational support workshops and resources for LifeMoves parents/caregivers and children. Their responsibilities include researching, developing and implementing programs and classes for clients, collecting and organizing data for reporting purposes, working with the Education & Specialized Services Team to coordinate and supervise children’s summer programs, and providing reports to the Director and Manager of Children & Family Services.Education Specialist Duties:Develops and implements parenting programs and/or teen/youth wellness programsFacilitates in-person groups for clientsProvides support and shares external resources for familiesCoordinates in-person programsCollects data and prepares reportsCreates and manages programming calendarsMaintains a high level of ethical conduct regarding confidentiality and professional statureParticipates in continuing education activities, remaining knowledgeable in area(s) of expertiseAttends weekly Education & Specialized Services Team meetings and monthly training; meets regularly with supervisor to exchange pertinent information and receive supervisionOther duties as assigned by SupervisorThis is a temporary role, available until January 2025.Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in social work, education, psychology or related field, OR at least 45 college credits and at least 2 years’ experience in providing services to families.Experience in facilitating groups and working with diverse populationsExcellent communication and interpersonal skills; proven ability to collaborate with community partnersUnderstanding of the issues faced by homeless individuals and other marginalized populations in crisis.Available to work evenings three days per weekAbility to travel to shelter sites in San Mateo CountyBi-lingual Spanish language capabilitiesAn understanding of ideas and practices that promote diversity, equity and inclusion; and a commitment to ongoing professional development in this area.Knowledge of Microsoft suite and Google suite is a plusTeam player who is flexible and able to multi-taskTo learn more about our non-profit organization, check out our website at
