DIRECTOR OF EDUCATIONThe Huron-Perth Catholic District School Board (the Board) has nurtured the development of students and families since 1847. We honour the covenant between the school, home, and parish to embrace shared leadership and the wellness of the students entrusted to our care.Located in mid-western Ontario, the Board encompasses historic Goderich and Grand Bend along the Lake Huron shoreline with Exeter, Ontario and the rich productive agricultural land of several small rural communities. The Eastern boundaries of our school system encompass the beautiful towns of Listowel, Mitchell and St. Marys, Ontario and numerous beloved rural communities in between.The Huron-Perth Catholic District School Board welcomes 4,600 students with progressive teaching and learning strategies and the best possible resources for achievement. The Board has 16 elementary schools, 2 secondary schools and the Blessed Carlo Acutis Continuing Education School serving approximately 4660 students with close to 1,000 staff.Reporting to and supporting the elected board of five (5) trustees, the new Director of Education will provide leadership to a team of supervisory officers and human resources to continue to implement the Board’s 2024-2027 strategic plan and vision with a focus on achievement, equity and well-being of our students. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to Gospel values and the teachings of Christ and the Catholic Church.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead the establishment of a Board Foundation, defining its mission and vision, and working with Trustees and the Senior Team to achieve its goals.Foster and promote the growth of strong Catholic education and values throughout the system.Develop and implement strategies to continue to enhance diversity, inclusion, and equity initiatives.Inspire and motivate staff to effectively nurture student achievement.Model and guide the transformation in learning and instruction, managing a complex and diverse organization, and fostering relationships with stakeholders.Collaborate with the Trustees and Senior Team to implement the Board's Multi-Year Strategic Plan, monitoring and facilitating the achievement of targets.Develop and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, including staff, students, parents, and the broader community.Ensure the business and operational functions of the Board are conducted in a prudent, transparent, and publicly accountable manner.Lead the organization to serve the social, physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of all our students without discrimination.Exemplify Catholic servant leadership in all aspects.QUALIFICATIONS:
A Masters Degree in Education or equivalent;Current registration in good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers;A minimum of four (4) years of Supervisory Officer experience in education;Demonstrated commitment to ongoing learning and personal development;Demonstrated ability to build partnerships with parishes, trustees, Ministry of Education, community partners and other education partners;Proven track record of success in education, including teaching and/or administration experience;Senior executive experience and expert knowledge of the education system in Ontario;Demonstrated transparency and frequency of communication while implementing change and creating organizational direction;Business and financial acumen; possessing strength in critical thinking, problem solving and decision making; political acuity;Experience in dealing with highly complex and sensitive matters;Ability to multi-task and manage conflicting priorities and deadlines with excellent time management skills;Ability to maintain tact, discretion and strict confidentiality;Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion through continuous development, modeling inclusive behaviours and proactively managing bias;Proficient computer skills including Google Workspace and Microsoft Office;A valid class G (or higher) Ontario driver’s licence and a reliable vehicle, this position requires use of own vehicle.The Huron-Perth Catholic District School Board offers:Competitive compensation and vacation packagePension, health and dental benefitsTraining and development opportunitiesIf you are interested in this position:Interested applicants are invited to apply by 4:00 p.m. on Monday, October 21, 2024 by submitting a detailed cover letter, curriculum vitae, proof of qualifications and Religious Education Specialist Certificate and three (3) letters of reference, dated within six months of application, one of which must be from the applicant’s Parish Priest.
