Specialist, EHS

to oversee Environmental, Health, and Safety plans and compliance for solar, solar + battery storage, and wind O&M projects in the US. The position will be located in Lancaster, CA and report to the Safety Manager.The primary responsibility of this role will be to communicate and audit safety programs and expectations to the AES O/M employees while ensuring contractors conduct activities safely for the protection of our employees, clients, contractors, subcontractors, and the public.The role requires the ability to oversee EHS plans and compliance on multiple project portfolios and frequent travel to sites throughout Northern California, Southern California, and the Southwest to audit compliance with AES Clean Energy’s EHS policies and local project requirements.Key Responsibilities:Lead activities and efforts around EHS-related incidents and investigations.Identify and build action plans and strategies through analytics.Maintain compliance with legal and regulatory EHS requirements.Maintain and continually improve the EHS Management Systems.Direct, develop, and deliver safety, health, and environmental training programs.Contribute to achieving EHS targets in support of business objectives.Travel to sites throughout the West Region for safety support as needed.Act as a lead person or technical expert on complex projects.Other duties as assigned.Key Requirements:Proven leadership skills.Proven expertise in field-level safety.Experience in a utility-scale solar project (preferred).Possesses a passion for Environmental Health and Safety.Understanding of safety programs and their importance.Ability to effectively communicate and influence at all levels of an organization.Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build effective relationships.Ability to analyze data and make key recommendations.Strong computer and analytical skills.Good communication skills.Able to support operations through video conferencing, such as Microsoft Teams.Ability to speak in large public settings.Ability to travel to other states for safety support.Professional attitude with a commitment to completing work.Enjoy working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.CSP or equivalent preferred.3-5 years related experience.Demonstrates alignment with AES Values and principles.AES is an Equal Opportunity Employer committed to building strength and delivering long-term sustainability through diversity and inclusion.
