We're looking for an admitted attorney for an extremely promising
Post-Conviction Relief Attorney
position within a premier law firm with lots of room for growth. This is an opportunity for a dedicated Associate Attorney to gain valuable experience in both criminal and immigration law and further their career with an established firm in the
Orange County
area. As the Post-Conviction Relief Attorney, you will report to the Supervising Attorney. We’re looking to add an attorney with previous litigation and/or appellate experience to join our team and handle post-conviction relief. The Post-Conviction Relief Attorney will manage their caseload, as well as client interaction, and can collaborate with our wonderful Post-Conviction Relief Team of Attorneys and legal assistants.Responsibilities
Advise clients on their legal rights in matters and draw up legal documents about their caseResponsible for post-conviction relief cases, including motions to vacate, expungements, motions to reduce, early termination of probation, etc.Experience with immigration law is highly desirable, but not required, as this position would have interactions with both criminal and immigration practicesAttend motion hearings on behalf of clients and advise clients following each hearing about best strategiesHandle open criminal cases including arraignments, pre-trials, pleas, and sentencing on behalf of other criminal attorneys within the firmManage court appearances, drafting motions, interviewing clients and performing legal researchAnalyze probable outcomes of cases using knowledge of legal precedentsManage workload of casesProvide legal analysis for clients to determine any possible case benefitsQualifications
Criminal Defense Experience or Immigration Law ExperienceExperience handling criminal cases at the state and local levelA team player who is open to helping, strategizing, and working with your fellow associatesBilingual (English/Spanish) is strongly preferred, but not requiredInterpersonal skills of the highest caliberPay Range: $80,000 to $110,000 annual salaryPay ranges can be exceeded depending on experience on a case by case basis.Here at the Matian Firm,
