Area Director of Sales

The Area Director of Sales is responsible to develop and foster business through pro-active direct sales, marketing, and solicitation for various or specific market segments for assigned properties. This position will have three sales managers and one sales admin reporting to them.
Qualification Summary:
Required Experience and Education:
Minimum two years sales experience in hospitality or two years of progressive experience in a hotel environment.
Proficient in Microsoft Office or similar computer applications.
Preferred Experience and Education:
Five years prior hotel sales or catering manager experience.
High-school diploma or GED, preferred a bachelor’s degree or two years of hospitality experience and an associate’s degree.
Experience with Delphi FDC or Sales Pro.
Experience with brand's PMS and sales related applications.
Travel:
Up to 75% travel requirement and travel between properties as needed. Must possess a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
Physical:
Frequent sitting, standing, and moving about the facilities. Handling objects, products and equipment. Using keyboards and other office computer equipment. Occasionally push, pull and lift items weighing up to 25 pounds. Must communicate information and ideas so others will understand. Must observe details at close range.
Other:
Must speak English fluently. Must have excellent written and oral communication skills. Mathematical skills include basic math, budgeting, profit/loss concepts, percentages and variances. Problem solving, reasoning, motivating, organizational and training abilities are often used. Ability to effectively multi-task.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Meet or exceed budgeted RevPAR goals for assigned properties.
Accurately forecast revenues for the following month.
Analyze short-term fluctuations and direct selling activities to maximize revenues.
Prepare sales and/or marketing plans for the following year.
Ensure front desk agents are familiar about all sales programs and key accounts at each property.
Produce sales department reports in a timely manner.
Know which market segments produce effective business for the properties and how to balance them to maximize revenues. Perform displacement analysis for groups or accounts as needed.
Know SWOT of each property and competitive sets.
Read and interpret STR results weekly and monthly.
Identify revenue opportunities and work to secure business from them.
Demonstrate commitment to superior guest service through personal response to guest needs.
Conduct site visits, coordinating with all departments for show rooms.
Any and all other duties as assigned.
