The Area Sales Manager is responsible to develop and foster business through pro-active direct sales, marketing, and solicitation for various or specific market segments for assigned properties. Qualification Summary:Required Experience and Education: Minimum two years sales experience in hospitality or two years of progressive experience in a hotel environment Proficient in Microsoft Office or similar computer applicationsPreferred Experience and Education: Two years prior hotel sales or catering manager experienceHigh-school diploma or GED, preferred a bachelor's degree or two years of hospitality experience and an associate's degreeExperience with Delphi FDC or Sales ProExperience with brand's PMS and sales related applicationsTravel: Up to 50% travel requirement and travel between properties as needed.Must possess a valid driver's license and reliable transportationPhysical: Frequent sitting, standing, and moving about the facilities. Handling objects, products and equipment. Using keyboards and other office computer equipment. Occasionally push, pull and lift items weighing up to 25 pounds. Must communicate information and ideas so others will understand. Must observe details at close range. Other: Must speak English fluently. Must have excellent written and oral communication skills. Mathematical skills include basic math, budgeting, profit/loss concepts, percentages and variances. Problem solving, reasoning, motivating, organizational and training abilities are often used. Ability to effectively multi-task.Duties and Responsibilities:Meet or exceed budgeted RevPAR goals for assigned propertiesAccurately forecast revenues for the following monthAnalyze short-term fluctuations and direct selling activities to maximize revenuesPrepare sales and/or marketing plans for the following yearEnsure front desk agents are familiar about all sales programs and key accounts at each propertyProduce sales department reports in a timely mannerKnow which market segments produce effective business for the properties and how to balance them to maximize revenues. Perform displacement analysis for groups or accounts as neededKnow SWOT of each property and competitive setsRead and interpret STR results weekly and monthlyIdentify revenue opportunities and work to secure business from themDemonstrate commitment to superior guest service through personal response to guest needsConduct site visits, coordinating with all departments for show roomsInteract with outside contacts:Guests - to ensure their total satisfactionOwners and/or Principals - regarding revenue updates and current issuesVendors - to resolve any vendor performance issues, etc.Regulatory agencies - regarding safety and compliance mattersOther contacts as needed (Professional organizations, community groups, local media)Any and all other duties as assigned
