About the Position:We are working with a preeminent Am Law firm that has an immediate need for an attorney with public finance experience (3+ yrs) to join its Chicago office as an associate. This practice is well-known for its work in the public finance sector and averages nearly 300 transactions annually. Attorneys in the practice represent financial institutions, borrowers, issuers, and underwriters in public finance transactions in the areas of healthcare finance, housing, education, economic development, and infrastructure.Highlights:· Firm has over 1,000 attorneys in over 25 offices worldwide· Ranked as one of the country’s best law firms by U.S. News – Best Law Firms· Firm earned a Corporate Philanthropy Award for its partnership with the Boys and Girls Club of America· Recognized by the Human Rights Campaign Corporate Equality Index for LGBTQ+ Workplace Equality· This role offers direct interaction with partners and clientsResponsibilities:· Act as bond counsel, lender’s counsel, and disclosure counsel on public finance transactions· Handle matters involving borrowers, issuers, and financial institutions in public finance projects related to healthcare, economic development, housing, and infrastructure· Advise clients on the tax, securities, UCC, and contract law matters related to public finance transactions· Collaborate closely with partners and clientsRequired Qualifications:· 3 or more years of experience in public finance, including bond counsel, lender’s counsel, and disclosure counsel experience· Previous experience working with governmental entities, municipalities, and state agencies· Knowledge of securities, principals of tax, the uniform commercial code, and contract law in relation to public finance· Strong academic credentials, with a focus on business law preferred· Excellent drafting, analytical, and organizational skills· Strong communication skills and the ability to work efficiently under pressure and meet deadlinesLocation:Chicago, IL (Hybrid)Position Type
