We are seeking a dedicated Public Finance Associate Attorney to amplify our Finance Practice Group. This full-time role is perfect for an individual eager to work on significant public finance transactions involving state agencies, municipalities, and governmental entities across various locations including Chicago, Detroit, Houston, or Milwaukee. As a Public Finance Associate, you will handle complex transactions, provide expert legal advice, and make a meaningful impact in sectors like healthcare finance, economic development, and education. The position offers a competitive salary range of $200,000 to $280,000 alongside comprehensive benefits and opportunities for professional advancement within a highly respected national law firm.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Lead and represent borrowers, issuers, financial institutions, and governmental entities in complex public finance transactions.
Provide expert legal thinking in diverse areas such as healthcare finance, economic development, housing, TIF and special assessments, infrastructure, and education.
Draft, review, and negotiate a breadth of sophisticated financial documents.
Collaborate directly with clients and contribute to partner-led meetings, ensuring solution-oriented approaches and high client satisfaction.
Offer deep analytical insights and consultation on legal and regulatory aspects related to public finance.
Minimum Position Qualifications:
JD from a top-tier law school with a strong academic record.
Active Bar admission in Illinois, Michigan, Texas, or Wisconsin, in good standing.
Minimum of 3-5 years of solid public finance experience, specifically as mid-level bond counsel, lender’s counsel, and disclosure counsel.
Demonstrated experience dealing with state agencies, municipalities, and governmental entities.
Proficient knowledge of tax, securities, uniform commercial code, and contract law applicable to public finance.
Exceptional drafting, analytical, and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Law school concentration in business law.
Proven track record in managing high-stakes finance matters with minimal supervision.
Experience in leading transaction teams and direct interactions with top-level management and clients.
Skills:
Advanced legal drafting and negotiation abilities.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent organizational and matter management capabilities.
Effective communication, both written and verbal, with attention to detail.
Capability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team setting.
