Position Summary:

The Grants Manager will be responsible for overseeing the full lifecycle of grant funding, from research and proposal development to grant reporting and renewal. This role requires strong writing and organizational skills to secure funding that supports Dreaming Out Loud's mission and programs. The Grants Manager will work closely with program staff, finance, and leadership to ensure compliance with all grant requirements and to cultivate relationships with grant funders.

Key Responsibilities:

Grant Research & Strategy

Identify potential public, private, corporate, and foundation grant opportunities aligned with the DOL's mission and strategic goals.

Conduct ongoing prospect research to expand the organization’s portfolio of funding opportunities.

Develop and maintain a grant calendar to track deadlines and reporting requirements.

Grant Writing & Submission

Prepare compelling, accurate, and timely grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and applications, including gathering necessary documentation and data from relevant departments.

Customize grant applications to align with each funder’s priorities, ensuring alignment with the organization’s goals.

Submit grant proposals on time and ensure all components are complete and accurate.

Grant Administration & Compliance

Oversee the entire lifecycle of grants, from award to close-out, ensuring all deliverables are met.

Monitor compliance with grant agreements and manage relationships with funders.

Ensure that grant funding is used in accordance with grant agreements, regulatory requirements, and the organization’s policies.

Reporting & Stewardship

Prepare and submit regular grant reports, documenting program results, budget use, and other required information to funders.

Maintain accurate and organized records for all grant activity, including applications, awards, contracts, and correspondence.

Ensure timely acknowledgment and stewardship of grants, building long-term relationships with funders.

Provide internal reports to senior management on future opportunities.

Collaboration & Communication

Collaborate with program staff to develop narratives, objectives, and budgets for grant proposals and reports.

Serve as a liaison between program, finance, and development teams to ensure accurate and timely grant management.

Stay informed of key developments and emerging trends in grant funding and philanthropy relevant to DOL's mission.

Qualifications:

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Nonprofit Management, Communications, Business, English, or related field preferred

Experience:

Minimum of 5-10 years of experience in grant writing and management, preferably in a nonprofit organization. Proven track record of securing grants from a variety of funding sources (government, foundation, corporate).

Skills:

Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills.

Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.

Knowledge of grant research databases and online application platforms.

Proficiency in budgeting and financial reporting.

Familiarity with donor management systems (e.g., Salesforce, Fluxx).
