Duties & ResponsibilitiesVirginia Commonwealth University (VCU) School of Medicine is a premier academic medical center located in the heart of Richmond. The Stravitz-Sanyal Institute for Liver Disease & Metabolic Health (SSLI) at Virginia Commonwealth University is seeking a Director of Imaging Research Development devoted to making a major contribution in translational research through ground-breaking imaging.

As a Director of Imaging Research Development, you will focus on building sustainable internal and external relationships and locating, developing, negotiating, and contracting research agreements in SSLI’s strategic areas of interest.

Main Responsibilities :

Build and develop research strategies according to SSLI’s strategic goals

Generate meetings and build sustainable business relationships with the goal of converting opportunity to executed research agreements

Leverage SSLI’s internal imaging, operations expertise to provide tailored imaging solutions that meet the clinical development needs of potential sponsors

Generate new research leads and manage the development process through contract execution

Develop and maintain strategic and key internal and external relationships but also Key Opinion Leaders

Bridge academic, scientific and clinical goals through advanced imaging: from cells to model organisms to advanced clinical trials

Build financial modeling and charge masters for all secured projects to maximize ROI

Oversee the budgeting and cost recovery process to ensure revenue is meeting intended projections

Minimum Hiring Standards :

Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal communication- and presentation skills.

Strong strategic planning and consultative abilities.

Master’s in healthcare or business administration or in a similar field.

5-10 years of experience of Imaging solutions in either sales, business development or similar position gained with academic health systems, adjunct research organizations for pharma, or clinical trials.

5-10 years of experience with financial modeling, including funding analyses and cost and revenue projections.

Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including using formulas and functions in calculation and analysis

Ability to identify, research, discuss, and resolve administrative and financial issues independently and as part of a team, set priorities that balance service and control, and manage and track multiple initiatives

Understanding of FDA and industry reporting standards to ensure that operationally all projects are run to GLP standards

Professional experience with lead generation and prospect management

A valid driver’s license and safe driving record, with the ability to travel frequently including outside of the United States

Resides in Richmond, VA

Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff and student environment or commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU.

Demonstrated ability to collect, analyze, and interpret information for senior University leaders

Preferred Qualifications:

Advanced degree, e.g., PhD, in life science or technical discipline, is highly desirable for the role, as is imaging related training, e.g., Advanced degree in MRI or PET, however not required.

Experience with proposal support, including responding to RFPs and supporting cost volume development for competitive procurements preferred
