The Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition at VCU is seeking full-time Hepatologists, that are board eligible/certified in Gastroenterology and Transplant Hepatology to provide clinical services in the Hepatology clinics at VCU Health System, to include both clinics on the Medical College of Virginia Hospital campus and in Hepatology outreach locations. The Hepatologists will participate in the inpatient management of patients with Liver conditions and perform diagnostic endoscopic procedures. There is an expectation to provide teaching to medical students, residents, and fellows in the management of patients with Liver conditions specifically Transplant. 8 weeks of inpatient call is anticipated to accommodate a brand new 24 bed Advanced Liver Care Unit opening in 2025.
The VCU Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology is currently ranked #4 in the country and #11 globally for training programs by US World and News Report. The Liver Transplant program is in the top 10 in the United States performing over 200 transplants each year including living donor. Our robust program spans the spectrum of liver disease and our faculty are leaders in hepatology research, creativity, service and discovery.
The faculty member will have a secondary appointment in the Stravitz-Sanyal Institute for Liver Disease and Metabolic Health if there is interest to engage in research and develop interdisciplinary collaborations in support of the core mission. The institute aims to be a global leader in liver-related research and education, metabolically driven disorders and the care for patients with these conditions.
Job Requirements
Board Certified/Board Eligible in Transplant Hepatology
Eligible for Virginia Medical Licensure
Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU
