Mission or Goal of Unit: To provide superior, compassionate and innovative clinical care to our patients using state of the art knowledge and resources and to conduct and disseminate clinical research and scholarship, with a focus on the care of patients and education of future clinicians.
Chief Purpose of this position: The Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology & Nutrition at the Virginia Commonwealth University is seeking a Physician Scientist. The incumbent will be responsible for providing clinical services in the Hepatology clinics at VCUHS, to include both clinics on the MCVH campus and in Hepatology outreach locations. The incumbent will also be providing teaching to medical students, residents, and fellows in the management of patients with liver conditions, with specific expertise in the diagnosis and management of chronic liver disorders.
Position Responsibilities:
- Clinical - Provide clinical services in the Hepatology clinics at VCUHS, to include both clinics on the MCVH campus and in outreach locations; participate in the inpatient management of patients with liver conditions.
- Teaching – Provide teaching to medical students, residents, and fellows in the management of patients with liver conditions.
- Research- Provide pharma sponsored clinical trials for cholestatic liver disease, and Investigator initiated research on cholestatic liver disease.
Required Qualifications:
- Board Certified/Board Eligible in Gastroenterology and Hepatology.
- Must be eligible for medical licensure in the State of Virginia.
- Required to have Basic Science and/or Clinical Research experience and dedication to pursue a Physician Scientist track
- Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU.
