Under general direction, the Dean for the Workforce Education directs, manages, and provides leadership in all instructional and academic support systems within the college's workforce education programs (culinary, welding, automotive, HVAC, engineering, cosmetology and barbering). This position is responsible for the overall strategic vision of the division at the college. Ensures coordination of courses, curriculum, and evaluation, as well as collaboration with other academic areas. This administrative position has oversight over all managers, instructors, students, and clerical staff associated with the division as well as federal and state grants.SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides leadership to the Workforce Education division in the areas of administration, management, supervision, budget preparation, evaluation, training, and staff development.Responsible as a resource to the business sector of the community by assessing credit and non-credit educational needs, ensuring contemporary training partnership agreements, and by representing the College at appropriate professional and civic meetings.Administers the development of budget planning for all departments and assuring expenditure of funds are consistent with this planning.Actively seeks funding support including grants and contracts to further the mission of the College.Promotes submission of grant applications and administering resulting grants deliverables.Works with College instructional administrators and faculty to develop and implement programs and courses appropriate to the needs of students and mission and goals of the College.Develops a plan to effectively build a pipeline of students and generate top line revenue growth.Ensures timely tracking of educational program metrics.Plans and coordinates faculty and staff training.Prepares quarterly and annual reports.Provides leadership to ensure that programs are of high quality and responsive to rapidly changing community needs.Monitors budget to ensure that budget spending does not exceed allocated funds.Writes budget report listing costs, such as instructors' wages and equipment costs, to justify expenditures.Evaluates the effectiveness of programs and instructors and aligning training with the organization's strategic goals.Represents the College at appropriate professional and civic meetings.Resolves personnel issues and actively promotes opportunities for growth and development of employees.Completes all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
Master's degree in appropriate field and 5 years of demonstrated diverse administrative and management experience to include large complex budgets and grants in a post-secondary environment.Demonstrated teaching experience in the post-secondary environment.Must have proven track record working with diverse industries to develop high impact, credit and non-credit programming.Experience working with recruitment, enrollment, and/or retention initiatives.Proven experience in curriculum development and program evaluation;Knowledgeable about learning management systems, instructional design and e-learning platforms.Ability to deal effectively and diplomatically with diverse populations including employers, employees, businesses, students, faculty, staff, supervisors, and administrators.Proven experience in project development, implementation, and management.Excellent communication skills - both verbal and written to include strength in presentation skills.Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and leadership skills.Ability to supervise more than a dozen full-time and part-time employees.Flexibility to work some evenings and weekends.Strong leadership skills with the ability to pay close attention to detail.Possession of a strong work ethic along with the ability to exercise good judgment.Ability to positively represent the College at the local, state, and national level in matters related to workforce programs.Knowledgeable about both traditional and modern job training methods and techniques.PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
This position requires an ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, lift, reach up, stoop, and carry items occasionally more than twenty-five (25) pounds. It also requires manual dexterity to operate standard office machines, such as copier, fax, calculator, telephone, and other equipment as necessary.
