Family Medicine - Core Faculty OpportunityPRIMARY FUNCTION:Serves to support the Residency Program Director at St. Mary Medical Center (Langhorne, PA) and Nazareth Hospital (Philadelphia, PA) in the provision of resident clinical supervision for the Family Medicine Residency Program, Family Medicine Center, and its Faculty/Staff in order to ensure the highest level of Family Medicine training and to maintain quality driven, evidence-based care for patients and families on the Family Medicine Inpatient Service and within The Family Medicine Center. Must embrace lifelong learning and have a genuine desire to teach and mentor developing physicians.PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:ClinicalProvides direct resident clinical oversight in the care for patients in the Family Medicine Center according to current standards of practice.Precepts residents and medical students in the Family Medicine Center as they care for continuity patients and/or acute care settings in accordance with credentials.Supports the provision of care provided by residents, medical students, and advanced nurse practitioners within the Family Medicine Center in a collaborative working relationship.EducationalProvides formal and informal teaching within the medical education programs at St. Mary Medical Center and Nazareth Hospital.Participates in development of didactic, simulation, scholarly, and bedside educational curricula.Supports all educational activities and remediation plans that pertain to the in-training examination, board examinations, and residency Clinical Competency Committee evaluations.Participates in the core didactic curriculum for residents.Resident Competency AssessmentsParticipates in regularly scheduled competency assessments of residents and students with program director and core faculty.Provides guided mentorship to residents and assists in creation of individualized learning plans.AdministrativeSupports Program Director in ensuring continued compliance with accreditation standards.Assists in creation and maintenance of written curriculum, goals and objectives for the residency program.Attends to all administrative tasks with attention to detail and in a timely fashion.Participates in the residency specific committees.RecruitmentAssists in the evaluation, recruitment, and orientation of resident and faculty applicants to the Family Medicine Residency.Faculty Support/DevelopmentProvides formal and informal mentorship to junior faculty.Supports faculty with scholarly endeavors.Provides ongoing support and education to affiliated and core faculty.ResearchSupports an environment of inquiry and scholarship through mentorship of resident research within the Family Medicine Center.SCOPE, PURPOSE, AND FREQUENCY OF CONTACTS:Meets regularly with departmental, operational, and residency leaders to ensure open communication.Meets regularly with residents in an advisory capacity.DIRECTION/SUPERVISION RECEIVED:Program Director, Family Medicine Residency.Designated Institutional Official.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:MD/DO.Current ABFM Board Certification.Faculty Appointment at associated medical school.Demonstrated excellence in patient care.Demonstrated excellence in medical, educational and leadership abilities.KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS:Ability to foster and maintain collaborative relationships.Ability to successfully manage relationships, including conflict resolution.Ability to perform in a leadership capacity.Ability to address issues creatively to affect change.Ability to demonstrate a high degree of credibility, respectability and integrity.Ability to exercise superior judgement, tact and diplomacy.Ability to be impartial when making decisions which may have a personal impact.Ability to manage the educational process.Ability to function as a team player.Ability to develop and maintain a rigorous competency-based residency program.Skilled in oral and written communications.SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:Maintain current knowledge and expertise through continuing education and self-study.PHYSICAL DEMANDS:None.WORKING CONDITIONS:Generally pleasant office environment.No unusual hazards.
