The Executive Director is the key professional leader of the Hyattsville CDC, reporting to the Board of Directors. This role is pivotal in shaping the strategic direction of the organization, managing operations, and ensuring effective program delivery. Description of the OrganizationThe Hyattsville Community Development Corporation (Hyattsville CDC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that offers community-based economic development assistance, community planning, and project management services to Hyattsville and the surrounding northern Prince George’s County Inner-Beltway region. Our mission is to develop the arts and public spaces, spur economic development and the quality of community life, encourage widespread leadership for community revitalization, and to rebuild the city’s commercial corridors. Hyattsville CDC has two additional full-time employees and a host of volunteers with an operating annual budget of approximately $1-2M.Major ResponsibilitiesStrategic Planning & Board GovernanceDevelop and implement innovative strategies that align with the CDC’s mission by regularly assessing and refining the organization’s goals and objectives in collaboration with the Board, while leading efforts to ensure that these strategic initiatives are inclusive and reflect the diversity of the communities served.Recommend projects to the Board that maintain a healthy pipeline of commercial development and redevelopment as well as arts-related opportunities in Hyattsville and its broader service areas.Organizational ManagementManage the day-to-day operations of the organization, ensure compliance with funding regulations, and maintain the organization’s legal standing.Oversee the financial management and wellness of the organization, including its various programs, budgeting, financial reporting, and ensuring fiscal responsibility.Manage the staff and volunteers by fostering a positive culture of teamwork while maintaining a productive work environment.Program and Project ManagementOversee that any existing and future grant-funded programs align with the strategic goals of the organization, and provide the necessary documentation for the Board, key stakeholders, and grantors.Ensure that all grant-funded programs comply with relevant regulations and funding requirements, maintaining accurate records and documentation for audits and reporting.Collaborate with program staff to create detailed project plans, timelines, and budgets, ensuring resources are allocated efficiently and effectively.Identify and pursue grant opportunities by developing grant proposals and presentations to secure financial support for CDC initiatives.Cultivate and build relationships with funders and donors, including corporate, government, and individual givers.Develop a funding mix that draws from various sources to maintain CDC’s financial wellness.Community Engagement & CommunicationsBuild and maintain relationships with community stakeholders, including residents, local businesses, and government entities.Act as a representative of the CDC in public forums and meetings, promoting the organization’s initiatives and achievements.Write press releases, articles, newsletters, and annual reports for all stakeholders.QualificationsMaster’s Degree in public administration, nonprofit management, business administration, or a related field preferred.Minimum of 3–5 years in a senior executive leadership role within a nonprofit or community-focused organization, with experience in fundraising, strategic planning, and board governance preferred.Proven track record in managing grant-funded programs and compliance with relevant regulations.Experience in community and economic development to interpret findings in grant proposals strongly preferred.Construction and project management preferred.Strong skills in financial management, budgeting, and fiscal responsibility, with experience in financial reporting and oversight preferred.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Some local travel may be required.Salary range: $80k – $100k annually, commensurate with experience.The Consonance Group has been hired for the executive search and requests all candidates to submit a PDF cover letter, resume, and any relevant documents to hiring@consonance.group with the subject line “CDC Executive Director position.”The Hyattsville Community Development Corporation is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of age, sex, disability, race, color, religion, national origin, marital status, gender identity, or sexual orientation.
