DescriptionChildren's National Hospital Foundation seeks an Assistant Director to join the Children's Miracle Network Hospitals team. This position will manage mid-level corporate partnerships in the $50,000-$350,000 range, including strategy development, campaign support, and stewardship. Candidates should be dynamic, creative, and self-driven, and looking to join a collaborative, fast-paced team. Some night and weekend work required. Access to a vehicle preferred.The Assistant Director Development plays a key role in increasing unrestricted revenue for the Foundation contributes to feeding either the Direct Response, Annual Giving, Planned Giving, and Major Gifts Pipelines that bring philanthropic growth to the organization. With support from senior management, the Assistant Director identifies, cultivates, solicits, and stewards relationships with individuals, families, and targeted groups of individuals who partner financially with Children's National to manage a portfolio of annual gift and low-level major gift prospects with an annual expectation of $500k. Provides a world-class experience that leaves donors feeling valued, informed, and engaged.QualificationsMinimum EducationBachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, or other related field (Required)Minimum Work Experience4 years of technical development experience with a proven record in lower-level major gifts, high-end annual gifts or special event execution, or managing a component of the marketing program preferably in a healthcare or academic setting (Required)Required Skills/KnowledgeStrong written and verbal communication skills (including phone skills such as warm tone, good speaking cadence, clear and articulate speech). Effective interpersonal skills that demonstrate poise, tact, patience, and courtesy. Must demonstrate initiative, energy, confidence, strong donor service attitude, and willingness to contribute to a teamwork-driven environment. High levels of professionalism, compassion, creativity, and integrity. Proven experience in successfully building and cultivating donor relationships. A willingness to work collaboratively to produce fundraising strategies and tactics. Proven sense for developing tactics to meet goals and objectives. Ability to manage time and task completion effectively. Strong familiarity with The Raiser's Edge software and/or other donor-related platforms.Functional AccountabilitiesFundraisingManage applicable giving programs, including strategy, budget, communications, solicitations, and oversight of data tracking.Executes donor strategy effectively through phone, email, mail, and face-to-face communication.Conducts meaningful touches or face-to-face donor meetings per year.Renews 80% of assigned donors on an annual basis.Secures new or upgraded annual donors at $5,000+ annually.Identifies Major Gifts and Planned Giving prospects annually and contribute to successful transfer of donors.Learns about the programs of Children's National and effectively communicate the mission to donors.Conducts oneself in a professional, friendly, and truthful manner with donors and colleagues.ResearchResearches, identifies, and promotes hand-off of high capacity donors to the appropriate Foundation Gift Officer.Updates fundraising database with contact notes, new information about donors, and outcomes.Organizational AccountabilitiesOrganizational Commitment/Identification: Anticipate and responds to customer needs; follows up until needs are met.Teamwork/Communication: Demonstrate collaborative and respectful behavior.
