Position Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior or Executive Director of Medicinal Chemistry to lead our talented team and advance our medicinal chemistry programs. The successful candidate will lead efforts for design, synthesis and screening of novel payloads and linker-payloads for antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs). This role will report to the Senior Vice President of Chemistry and will play a key role in shaping our research and development strategy.?

Responsibilities

Innovative Research

Drive innovation in the design and synthesis of novel payloads and linker technologies for ADCs to maximize their therapeutic potential.

Strategic Leadership

Develop and implement a strategic plan for the identification of novel payloads and linkers for ADCs, aligning it with the company's overall R&D goals.

Team Management

Lead and manage a team of scientists, fostering a collaborative and results-oriented work environment while maintaining high safety standards.

Manage Contract Research Organization (CRO) partnerships.

Collaboration

Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including biology, bioconjugation, pharmacology, and ADME/PK, to ensure seamless integration and communication across research and development efforts.

Budget Management

Manage departmental budgets and allocate resources effectively to support project goals.

Scientific Excellence

Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in the fields of medicinal chemistry, synthetic chemistry and ADCs fostering a culture of scientific excellence and continuous improvement within the department.

Intellectual Property

Contribute to the development of intellectual property through patent filings and publications in peer-reviewed journals.

Qualifications

A Ph.D. in Synthetic Organic or Medicinal Chemistry with a minimum of fifteen (15) years of experience in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry. A minimum of five (5) years of leadership experience.

Knowledge and Skills

Proven track record in the development of small-molecule and linker payloads for ADC drug candidates.

Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and mentor a high-performing team.

Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

Experience in managing budgets and resources for research programs.

A history of successful publications, patents, and contributions to the field.

Strong problem-solving skills and a commitment to scientific excellence.

Flexibility, adaptability, and a passion for innovation and research.
