Harley Dykstra has permanent positions available for motivated and committed urban planners and development professionals located in our Forrestdale Office. We have several positions available, including a Senior Urban Planner/Urban Planner role and an Urban Planner with or without experience who is interested in a hybrid urban planning & project management role.We are seeking a Senior Urban Planner to assist us with our growing list of projects in both the built form and land development spaces. Our Client list is growing rapidly ensuring our projects are varied in nature and scale, providing the successful applicant with well-rounded experience and opportunity to further their career in this sector. Planners of all experience are welcome to apply.Graduate Urban Planner/Urban Planner specialising in Project ManagementWe are also seeking an urban planner who has an interest in project management to assist our project management team and clients with obtaining subdivision approvals and managing their implementation and construction. Our team manages subdivision construction projects of varying sizes from small to large scale residential and industrial developments. There will also be an opportunity to assist in built form projects (development application) on an as required basis, ensuring that you are able to grow in all aspects of the urban planning sector. As part of our Planning Team (of 7 planners in addition to support staff), you will have direct involvement in our development projects, providing you with hands-on experience and growth opportunities that few firms can offer.Your key responsibilities include but are not limited to:Effectively managing or assisting with various planning projects from initial conception through to determination, in accordance with company and client expectations.Undertaking various planning projects including the preparation of complex development applications, structure plans, rezoning applications, subdivision applications, due diligence and the coordination of all associated sub-consultant inputs and reporting, ultimately guiding these through to determination.Relatively independently managing a list of Clients, ultimately reporting to our Planning Manager and Directors.Presentation of various proposals to Clients, decision makers and other stakeholders, as required.Working in a team with other planners and offering support and supervision where required.Urban Planner Specialising in Project ManagementEffectively managing or assisting with various land development projects from initial conception through to implementation, in accordance with company and client expectations, with support available from senior staff if required.Undertaking various planning projects including the preparation of structure plans, rezoning applications, subdivision applications, due diligence and the coordination of all associated sub-consultant inputs and reporting, ultimately guiding these through to implementation, subsequent to approval.Presentation of various proposals to Clients, decision makers and other stakeholders, as required.What you will need to succeed:Tertiary qualification in Urban Planning or a related development discipline;Preferably (but not essential) previous Western Australian private practice or State/Local Government experience.A solid knowledge of the Western Australian State and Local Planning Policies and Guidelines is desirable, or alternatively an ability to interpret and comprehend new legislation quickly;Initiative and self-motivation in meeting client expectations, which helps to grow you personally and Harley Dykstra as a business;Strong negotiation skills that seek to achieve positive outcomes for our clients;Strong people skills with the ability to relate to clients and to work effectively with other team members.How to applyYour application should include:A cover letter responding to the “what you will need to succeed” criteria and telling us why you would like to work at Harley Dykstra.A resume which clearly details your education, skills and experience, as relevant to the role.
