The Role:
Generate:Biomedicines (Generate) is seeking an exceptional leader to serve as the Head of Computational Protein Generation (CPG). This pivotal role is at the heart of our mission, bringing together multiple disciplines across the drug discovery pipeline. The CPG team designs therapeutic molecules for all of our drug programs, and so operates at the intersection of state-of-the-art machine learning advancements, cutting-edge wet lab technologies, and therapeutic innovation. The successful candidate will lead a highly interdisciplinary team, collaborating and strategizing closely with deep experts across various domains at Generate to drive the development of therapeutic molecules. The candidate will also lead an impactful research agenda to achieve unprecedented scale in molecular generation.
Here's how you will contribute:
Team Leadership:
Lead and mentor the CPG team, supporting their professional growth fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture that encourages innovation and excellence.
Cross-functional Collaboration:
Interface with therapeutic program teams to plan and execute projects, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.
Technology Integration:
Collaborate with Machine Learning and Data Science groups to incorporate the latest generative technologies into program applications.
Strategic Alignment:
Report to and work closely with the CTO to ensure the team's execution and operations are strategically and technologically aligned with company goals.
Infrastructure Development:
Partner with Digital and Engineering teams to establish robust infrastructure supporting automation, data analysis, and consistent design protocols.
Operational Excellence:
Drive execution-focused initiatives, ensuring operational efficiency and clarity in how the team functions and the delivery of high-quality molecular designs.
Innovation Advocate:
Promote the adoption of cutting-edge technologies and methodologies, driving continuous improvement and innovation within the team.
The Ideal Candidate will have:
Educational Background:
PhD in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Biophysics, Computer Science, or a related field.
Experience:
At least 10 years of relevant experience, including leadership roles managing multi-functional teams within therapeutics: Deep understanding of computational protein generation, machine learning applications in molecular biology, and wet-lab integration.
Cross-disciplinary Collaboration:
Proven track record of working effectively with therapeutic program teams, data science, engineering, and executive leadership.
Strategic Thinking:
Ability to align team operations with broader organizational strategies and technological advancements.
Execution Focused:
Demonstrated ability to drive projects to completion with high quality, operational efficiency, and impact.
People Leadership:
Strong skills in mentoring, team development, and fostering a collaborative team environment.
Communication Skills:
Excellent verbal and written communication abilities, capable of conveying complex technical information clearly and effectively.
