The ideal candidate combines strategic thinking, exceptional writing skills, attention to detail, independent and team working capabilities, and a collegial, entrepreneurial attitude suited for a fast-paced organization. This role reports to the Director of Business Development and collaborates across the BD team and technical practices.Team Management and OversightCollaborate with the Director of BD to develop growth strategies in the USG market, with a primary focus on USAID (including for Athena’s two recently established Joint Ventures [JVs])Mentor BD team members in capture and proposal development for USAID and other USG client opportunitiesLead or support quality control for USG opportunities.Work in close collaboration with Athena’s Practice teams (across India, Sub-Saharan Africa, and the US).Pre-Proposal Planning and CaptureConduct market research and provide key insights on core USG clients' procurement priorities (e.g., USAID, US Department of State, MCC) to inform Athena’s pipeline.Lead or substantively support business intelligence gathering, capture efforts, and proposal tasks focused on the USG market.Leverage existing networks and build new relationships to support candidate sourcing, cultivation of new (or existing) partners, and building of long-term strategic relationshipsProposal ManagementManage bid lifecycle for selected opportunities from capture to submission, including sourcing opportunities, competitive analysis, partner liaison, and proposal team coordination.Support proposal teams to deliver high-quality, client-compliant submissions.Organizational Systems StrengtheningEnhance BD processes, tools, and team capacity to improve competitiveness and win rates in the USG/USAID markets.In consultation with the BD and Comms leadership and Athena’s Technical Practices lead or support development of marketing products and capability statements tailored to the USG/USAID market.Contribute to continuous refinement of USG-market focused BD analytics and metrics.Required Qualifications and Competencies· Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., social sciences, international development, economics, public policy, public administration, business administration);· At least 5 years of experience in USG business development, preferably with for-profit consultancies or INGOs.· Proven experience leading or supporting winning bids for USG clients, particularly USAID, US Department of State, or MCC.· Detail-oriented, flexible, and able to handle multiple concurrent tasks.· Strong management and organizational skills and ability to support mentorship and growth of less experienced BD colleagues.· Strategic thinker that thrives in deadline-driven, dynamic environment.· Exceptional writing, analytical and communication (written and spoken) skills.· Demonstrated MS Office skills, including experience with MS Word and Excel. Experience working with MS Teams and SharePoint / OneDrive a plus.Preferred Qualifications or Competencies:Masters’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., social sciences, international development, economics, public policy, public administration, business administration); a Master’s will be considered equivalent of 1-2 years’ professional experience· Proficiency in French, Spanish, Arabic, Portuguese, Bahasa, Tagalog, Russian, or other languages relevant to USAID programming.Experience with CRM platforms, especially SalesforceExperience in organizations with established JVsAdditional Requirements· This position requires successful completion of a reference check and employment verification.· The successful candidate must not be subject to employment restrictions from a former employer (such as a non-compete) that would prevent the candidate from performing the job responsibilities as described.· Only candidates who have US or India* work authorization will be considered.*For India based candidates, the work may require them to follow a 2pm-10pm IST work timing to ensure overlap with US based Director – BD.Athena Infonomics is an Equal Opportunities EmployerAthena Infonomics is an equal opportunity employer with a commitment to diversity.
