The Expo Group is seeking a
Business Development Director
to find new business leads and convert them into satisfied customers. This person should have a “go-getter” attitude and will focus solely on actively acquiring new business, and then maintaining that business long term. Success in the role includes defining the best targets for new business, seeking them out, and cultivating them into revenue opportunities. This role will also be responsible for quickly responding to leads that come into the system and nurturing them through the sales pipeline. We are looking for candidates near key markets: Dallas/Fort Worth, Chicago, Las Vegas, Orlando, and the Washington DC area.
We’re looking for someone with at least three years of demonstrated sales experience in the trade show and events industry. Strong consultative selling skills and an executive presence to influence senior decision-makers is a must-have. We need a visionary able to turn customer needs into actionable solutions who is a self-motivated driver with a never-quit attitude that knows how to drive sales on an accelerated schedule. We’re looking for a personable communicator capable of connecting with clients and prospects to assure that their express needs are met, who can also negotiate and work with internal staff to achieve mutual goals.
We’re looking for someone who can:Search and uncover new tradeshow general contracting sales and services opportunities and converting them into revenue.Represent The Expo Group to Show Management, Association Executives, Exhibitors, Convention Managers, Convention Bureau Staff, Hotels and Conference Centers, and subcontractors creating goodwill and securing business.Prospect for new business by developing targeted solicitation plans for key accounts including any and all potential meeting venues, hotels, associations, and corporations with trade show events.Partner with internal departments and clients to achieve open communication and ensure client needs/expectations are consistently met, or even better, exceeded on time and on budget.Maintain accurate records of all sales and prospecting activities including sales calls, presentations, closed sales, and follow-up activities.Work with the Creative, Marketing, and Sales team to create and conduct TEG Capabilities presentations, prepare RFP responses, and develop creative proposals and presentation materials including floor plans, rate sheets, artistic renderings, etc. for presentation to current and potential clients.Negotiate and prepare contracts to secure new business in partnership with senior sales staff.Proactively provide information to clients to assist in securing future business.Maintain knowledge about the industry and our competitors by attending local and national industry events.Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and business ethics codes (CORE Values).May require travel up to 35-40% of the time.
